posted 6 months agoHi,
We are updating the extension, therefore a popup might appear (it will only happen once per browser/device), but you can simply close it and continue browsing. If you are seeing many payment tabs all at once or encountering the payment page every time you open your browser, please reach out to us via support@adblockplus.org.
Here's more about how our contribution page works: For non-Premium users, we populate the page when we update the extension to keep you informed on changes we've made and as a reminder to support Adblock Plus if you find the software beneficial. We don't track who has previously paid unless your extension is already upgraded to Adblock Plus Premium (and in that case we won't show you the update page at all). The contribution page also displays just after installing ABP so it sometimes appears even though you have recently contributed or have paid for Premium. - Rated 4 out of 5by nikkolaus, 6 months agoThe AdBlock Plus extension aggravates me MORE by pushing me to a different page trying to get me to donate to them every single day, more than just bearing with the ads would do!!
STOP hijacking my browser in an attempt to guilt me into paying your salary. You block ads, good job, now stop forcing me to look at YOUR AD!Developer response

It's a great tool, helped a lot. Today after an update it told: "make any contribution and see the difference" and... stopped working. It looked like it's not free anymore.
I almost moved to another adblock extension, but reinstall helped.
Also today it started showing too many notifications, telling how great it is. It's the same annoying as the advertisements. Kill a dragon to become the dragon?Developer response

- Rated 1 out of 5by ICON, 6 months agoTried it to beat ads on YouTube. Works about 15% of the time. YouTube ads are now almost 2 minutes at times. Very annoying. Will keep searching. Meanwhile, I watch Rumble.

posted 6 months agoHi,
If you are using the Adblock Plus extension on a desktop browser, you should not be seeing full length ads though you may see a variety of different behaviors such as a temporary black screen or a very brief display of an ad (less than a second or two).
These are related to our efforts to stop the entirety of the ad appearing. If you are seeing full length ads, I recommend checking out this article: https://help.adblockplus.org/hc/en-us/articles/26653087560595-Ads-appearing-on-YouTube - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14677635, 6 months ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 16380553, 6 months agoStops some sites working by making pop ups appear (eg: nosloq.com works when adblock disabled, but fails when enabled), lots of websites have pop-ups it is no longer stopping and you cannot even "select element" to manually block them now".
It's better than nothing, but it is time to find something better - I think they are chasing money now, rather than providing awesome service. Both is ok, but I think they have the balance wrong now.
*** EDIT ***
No, the nosloq.com do not have an anti-ad blocking device in place - other than warning people it can cause issues.
The pop-up is just to let people log-in, but if they don't have an account they just need to click it off - so then can register instead.
If you use the site WITHOUT adblock - it works.
If you have ad block on, the pop-up just re-spawns. It is not a deliberate issue at their end - as when I spoke with them, they say you ARE aware of the problem - but just blamed it on problems with "filters".
The "legal way" to solve the problem here is to correct the filter that makes a single-show login popup, become a relentless re-spawn problem.
I have seen other sites do something similar too - it works fine (without any ads) without you - but if adblock is enabled it just breaks the site.Developer response
posted 6 months agoHello,
thank you for contacting Adblock Plus.
Some websites indeed have an anti ad blocking wall in place, which requires users to disable their ad blockers to access the page.
Websites are in their right to request this, though we believe it is an extremely intrusive practice. We cannot legally stop it but we are constantly exploring legal ways to combat this. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 15907692, 6 months ago

Developer response

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 16856936, 6 months agoABP has become as bad as the ads it blocks. I allow it to auto-update, and the result is always an ABP ad begging for money. Don't these people realize I am busy doing something to force the ad on me? Plus it doesn't keep track of whether I paid them anything. Today I installed it on a new PC, and it FORCED ME to pay $5 (which it said I can a refund, but don't see how to do that; it IS probably worth $5). I see now when I click the ABP icon, I get a small ad at the bottom of that window. It's disgusting. ABP's obnoxious ads will keep me from ever paying them money again -- unless of course they force the issue on yet another new PC someday. I like the ads-blocking, but I hate the constant, obnoxious begging for money. Also, I'm not going to bother researching it, but I am an American, but the charge ($5) was international (I got a credit-card warning). Also, for some reason, it gave me PREMIUM for a while: I don't want it. I turned off the features that seemed linked to PREMIUM.

posted 6 months agoHello,
If the issue happens even with ABP off/page allowlisted, it means that something else is causing it the issue. This article can be helpful to fix this problem: https://help.adblockplus.org/hc/en-us/articles/1500003502101-Why-am-I-still-asked-to-turn-off-my-ad-blocker-after-allowlisting- - Rated 5 out of 5by Srecko, 6 months ago
