- Rated 1 out of 5by sugarcoookie, 8 years agoI've enjoyed adblock for many years, but version 3 is terrible. The new version is so striped down, it's missing every useful tool from the old adblock. Element hider is gone, and while you can still click on elements, you can't use the short cuts that I used almost every day, like the "narrower"/"wider" keyboard shortcuts. You can no longer see blockable elements on a page. Supposedly there is a way to see them, but it didn't work and it was much more difficult to get to. Don't even bother with this version - look for 2.99.

posted 8 years agoBlockable items list has been replaced by a Developer Tools panel - press Ctrl+Shift+I (Cmd+Option+I on macOS) to open Developer Tools, then switch to the Adblock Plus panel. A more obvious way to open it would be great but sadly currently not possible (we filed a Firefox bug on that a year ago). You might need to reload the page, requests performed before the panel was opened aren't being displayed. As to Element Hiding Helper, it's sadly not possible to make it compatible with Firefox 57 but we want to incorporate parts of its functionality in Adblock Plus later. I for one, would like to see at the least the following 2 options to be back from the earlier version(s):
1) Display Blockable Items -- When we click the ABP icon when inside of any page, it used to display links in that page that could be potentially blocked)
2) Custom Filters -- As of now, the only option to add custom filters seems to be to "block element" on a page, which does not seem to work 90% of the time. Bring back the old way wherein we can add custom filters by accessing links displayed in the "Display Blockable Items on Page" view. You have to keep in mind not all users are coders and are not that computer savvy as you might expect them to be. Meaning, adding custom filters is pretty difficult for an end user like me without ABP helping me by displaying a portion or all parts of the link (of the element) I would like to block in a page. Like I mentioned earlier, as of now, 90% of the time, new the "block element" feature opens up only an EMPTY BOX that says ADD FILTERS, without any link captured inside of it. It only has the ADD and CLOSE buttons, and the box totally empty without any link.Developer response

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13407698, 8 years agoThe previous version (v2) is 5 star, but v3 is missing key features!
I hope the features from v2 are going to make it into v3 at some point.
Also, not a fan of the new UI in v3!
I wish Mozilla hadn't decided to kill off 'legacy' add-ons before WebExtensions had become a good enough replacement!Developer response
posted 8 years agoYes, we definitely plan to add functionality back, but that will take time. We already waited with publishing this update as long as possible - Firefox 57 will be released in merely a week. - Rated 3 out of 5by SkyCharger, 8 years agoIt would certainly help if you could at least add the option to report what filters are triggered on a specific site.
why? Firefox's add-on site just had an overhaul and I'm getting the feeling that a 'rogue' filter is currently screwing it up (which is undiagnosable with the current interface) and the added tab to the developer-tools is PRACTICALLY nonfunctional. (no means for sorting the items means I have to scroll a lot to check if there is any rule being misapplied, as it could be anywhere on the list)Developer response
posted 8 years agoThe tab in the Developer Tools should do that for you, but it won't show requests that happened before that tab was opened - you might need to reload the page for that. It's consistent with the way Developer Tools work in general, and doing it differently would impose a performance cost on everybody, not just the people using this functionality. - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 11555648, 8 years agoпочему после последнего обновления клик по иконке не открывает сразу окно расширения? Почему нет в меню пкм его строки?
Developer response
posted 8 years agoК сожалению, развивать 2.x возможности нет - классические расширения в Firefox 57 (выйдет через неделю) работать больше не будут. Будем постепенно добавлять утерянную функциональность к новой версии, насколько возможно, другого пути нет. This UI sucks so hard - incredibly horrible!
Why you not only updated the plugin engine referring to the latest Mozilla guidelines?
And partially the blocked/hidden sections came back since v3.0 ....Developer response
posted 8 years agoIt's not as simple as "upgrading the plugin engine," large parts of the extension and particularly the user interface had to be rewritten from scratch. More on this here: https://adblockplus.org/blog/the-plan-towards-offering-adblock-plus-for-firefox-as-a-web-extension - Rated 1 out of 5by Alan Raskin, 8 years agoAs of the November 6, 2017 update, websites do not display properly in FF 56.0.2 (Windows 7). If I disable ABP and refresh the page, everything is fine, but if I re-enable ABP, all the browser tabs immediately go blank. I can view the source, so the pages were obviously downloaded properly, but they just aren't being rendered at all.
Everything was fine the morning of November 6; the problem started sometime in the afternoon.
Please fix ASAP. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13414187, 8 years agoC'est quoi cette arnaque ? On ne peut plus gérer les abonnements ou mettre un site en liste blanche, les options sont buguées à fond...
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13414129, 8 years agoSeriously ? I mean SERIOUSLY ??
*The new UI is a joke and the options are TOO less in this 3.0 version !
*Worse thing is the Custom filters were you can't Enable or Disable filters anymore, they are all togheter now enabled...
*And the NEW Element hiding feature in web pages is stupid AF !!
Back to 2.9.1 ver' ...Developer response
posted 8 years agoWe hear you, and we definitely plan to add more functionality to the new user interface. That will take time however. Sadly, keeping Adblock Plus 2.x wasn't really an option because it will stop working in Firefox 57 that will be released in a week. - Rated 1 out of 5by shunesburg69, 8 years agoThe version 3.0 is junk, there is less features than before.
Ex: You delete "Open the list of filtered items".
La version 3.0 est pourri, elle a moins de fonctionnalités qu'avant.
Ex: Vous avez supprimé "ouvrir la liste des éléments filtrables".Developer response

Maybe this is intentional if having a lot of filters is bad for performance? Surely adding the no coin list alongside easy list should be fine?
