by Firefox user 13598109, 8 years agoI loved this extension on chrome and used to use it all the time. However, on Firefox, this thing absolutely shreds my CPU. When loading a new page or toggling the dark-mode on, it will spike to ~80% CPU usage for several seconds, and cause my entire browser to hang (note that this is on a 5th gen i7). I don't care for extensions that abuse my CPU power. This extension never used to be like this, but I've had to stop using it.
Developer response
posted 8 years agoOne of the reasons is that Firefox could use built-in video card instead of discrete. Anyway, more productive but less smart looking approach was released (More -> Static Theme). It will be improved in future, but you can try it now.
Update: Try new Dynamic Theme mode.

- Rated 5 out of 5by A D, 13 days agoMy choice for automatic CSS modification which works so well that some websites look much better with Dark Reader than with their default designs.
Has a performance toll on your computer though and occasionally you might encounter issues (I recommend learning the keyboard shortcut to quickly toggle a website), however considering the complexity of automatically transforming stylesheets of all websites it's really a remarkable job done by the Dark Reader contributors. - Rated 5 out of 5by goe, 15 days ago

- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 18013181, 25 days agoIt's nice to be able to browse websites comfortably, but there's a problem.
When viewing photos and text on Google Maps, problems often occur.
I have to change or disable the filter to get it to display properly, and even when I switch to a different filter, the text sometimes doesn't display.
I think this program needs some improvement. - Rated 5 out of 5by Class77, a month agoUn must, mes yeux vous remercie, tant de confort supplémentaire sur certains sites à fond blanc
