- Rated 5 out of 5by wolfblake, 8 years agoI really like the new version. I can see any cloud cover and the temperature right away. Also, the five day forecast, radar, precipitation, and what it feels like are all just one click away!
- Rated 1 out of 5by ToddFucker, 8 years agoI could still do it with a restored add-on bar last night, why not today?

posted 8 years ago"restored add-on bar" does not support new Firefox API - WebExtensions - Rated 1 out of 5by hallgrim, 8 years agoNow it's totally useless! The statusbar can be restored with The Addon Bar (restored). Fortunately I did not make a donation or were lost money!
- Rated 3 out of 5by freemen2, 8 years agoI prefer the way 2.4.8 works. Will be using as long as possible then I guess I will be looking once more for what's out there. I just like to be able to see what I want to see where I want to see it without having to click on it. Thanks for all the work you've done on this and are doing. I understand this is FF policies but am hoping like heck you or someone will figure a way around this :)

posted 8 years agoI can try to look for workarounds and return something similar to the statusbar in the version for WebExtensions
Thank you for understanding the current situation! - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 4391148, 8 years agoSadly, the new version lost the ability to display multiple days at once on a bar, but this was bound to happen after switching to Mozilla's WebExtensions.
All the information is available in just one click anyway, it's just a new habit to take.
This is still one of the best -- if not the best -- weather add-on for Firefox.
And the city search is working again. :) - Rated 1 out of 5by Stylist2006, 8 years agoI just donated for the very good last version and today all settings are destroyed for a absolutely unusable updated version - wished I wouldn't have done so!
The last version urgently needs to be downloadable again.Developer response

The current version of Forecastfox is the version for the new API: WebExtensions
But I'm not guilty - these are the inevitable changes in Firefox.
All Xul-addons is die in Firefox 57 (November 2017)
https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2017/02/16/the-road-to-firefox-57-compatibility-milestones/ - Rated 3 out of 5by Hoggy, 8 years ago3 stars is mainly because this used to be a 5-star addon. Now it is just slightly better than the rest. But at least in the new version, the icon couldn't even be moved out of the navigation bar - it remained stuck in 'More Tools'.. So I couldn't even see the basic weather info at a glance.
I like having several days in the addon bar, and being able to hover over one and get more info - ESPECIALLY for the RADAR!
I reverted back to 2.4.8 and turned of automatic updates.. Like more and more addons these days, due to Mozilla's bulls**t. The regular Firefox is barely even usable to me anymore, so I use Cyberfox instead and turn off addon compatibility checking.
I did note that the search was broken like the author said, but fortunately I had all the cities already in. Maybe the author can tell how to manually add them in about:config??
Way to go Mozilla! Continually screwing over all the addon developers again and again and again and again. It's no wonder why so many addons have become abandoned.
Edit after developer reply:
I know it's not you, sorry if I made it sound that way. If it helps, yours [3.4] was the only one I tried that formatted the popup correctly - and looked the nicest and neatest. Hopefully in newer versions you could at least allow the icon/text to be moved elsewhere (including a statusbar, for Firefox forks like Cyberfox).
I can only hope Cyberfox sticks with the older code line, at least as an option. I currently still enjoy having the statusbar, and being able to see multiple days in it, with popup info & radar. I forgot to check if v3.4 allowed popup radar, because that is extraordinarily important to me in a weather addon - as opposed to having to open up a webpage that may take a good while to load.Developer response

https://forum.mozilla-russia.org/viewtopic.php?pid=736428#p736428 - Rated 5 out of 5by gmon, 8 years agoI don't switch cities so don't need whatever may be broken and prefer the multi day view, so had to find out from a search where to get the older version. If I have to give up on Firefox I will, but not before every useful addon like forecastfox is completely broken.
- Rated 5 out of 5by Makronti, 8 years agoStill a great add-on! In new version -as many others- I miss the multiple days view. But I understand that Firefox will not be the same after v57. And as some other add-ons I have (i.e. Wired-Marker), all will change to follow the new API of Firefox. The Forecastfox as well.
I have to learn a new habit, to click on the Forecastfox button. Then everything is better than before. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13022979, 8 years agoI am a 52 ESR user that has my add -ons update automatically. I didn't realize that it wasn''t compatible for me. I was having trouble with the 2.4.8 version not updating the location but I see below that you are working on a fix. Is there any way that I can recapture Forecastfox (fix version) 2.4.8 at this point. really miss this add-on. Please advise

posted 8 years agoversion 2.4.8 - is broken: City search does not work
I could not fix and make version 2.4.9, because 2.4.8 uses the outdated version of jQuery
jQuery 1.x is now forbidden by Mozilla, read more: https://bit.ly/1TRIyZY
and I had to choose - either completely rewrite code for WebExtensions (version 3.4) or completely rewrite code for a new jQuery (version 2.4.9)
I chose WebExtensions. Sorry - Rated 5 out of 5by Oleg, 8 years agoI use The Addon Bar:

"The Addon Bar" - also is die! - Rated 1 out of 5by Us2inVa2, 8 years agoThis rating should be a five. Please fix your addon, I rolled back to 2.4.8 and disabled updates until it is fixed, like I did with the old version when this happened. This addon as it WAS, is vital for me in my life, for many reasons. Please make it work right.

https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2017/02/16/the-road-to-firefox-57-compatibility-milestones/ - Rated 1 out of 5by hortnut, 8 years agoLiked to be able to see all icons for multiple days and nights stretched across the menu bar. Plus have access to quick icons: radar, 5 day, hover over weather icon, get details for that day/night and so on. Use it on Laptops and Firefox. What is 3.4 intended for?
Response to Developer: None of my other Addons are broken. I know that FF [using 53.0.2] has changed its way of dealing with things overtime. Sigh...will use old version for as long as it is possible. I mean the old one works perfectly right now. In meantime will look for an alternative.Developer response

The current version of Forecastfox is the version for the new API: WebExtensions - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 13023100, 8 years agoDont know what you were thinking but its time to roll back your "update" to something that's fu**ing usable.
**Update... its still not usable but at the same time i didn't think about the bulls**t mozilla is pulling with the add-on api I'm still mad as hell but not at you, mozilla on the other hand can go directly to the chromed hell they are turning firefox into. Im running the ESR just so i can view security cameras because they killed the extensions for that too....Developer response

The current version of Forecastfox is the version for the new API: WebExtensions - Rated 1 out of 5by Carole09, 8 years agoI have no idea why you decided to ruin the best weather app available, were you having a bad day? What set this weather app apart from all the others was the ability to glance up or down and see the weather for numerous days without having to click. If you wanted more details then you clicked.I sure hope you re-think this terrible update.

The current version of Forecastfox is the version for the new API: WebExtensions - Rated 1 out of 5by Todd, 8 years agoThis update has ruined one of my favorite add-ons. I have this positioned in the tab area of the frame instead of the status bar. I can also move it to either the menu bar or the bookmark bar. Can those positions still be used after the introduction of the new API?

The current version of Forecastfox is the version for the new API: WebExtensions - Rated 1 out of 5by Fred Flintstone, 8 years agoI find it difficult to understand why the developer(s) decided to destroy the best features of this addon as part of an update.
There are dozens of weather addons available that give users one icon on the toolbar showing really limited information unless they click on the icon. What set Forecastfox apart from all the others was that users could view multiple-day forecast all at once, without the need to click on anything. In addition, users were given quick and easy access to a radar map, hourly forecasts, and detailed five-day forecasts. The only other addon that even came close to this level of functionality was AniWeather, but apparently, that one doesn't work at all anymore.
So, for whatever reason, you have chosen to ruin Forecastfox by reducing it to the level of all the other pathetic competitors, which means that I'll be staying on the previous version as long as possible.Developer response
