About this extension
This extension acts as a network-based remote control for old Toshiba blu-ray players and smart TVs.
It's an unofficial replacement for the defunct "Toshiba TV Remote App" android application, allowing to control many Toshiba Blu-Ray players (BDX series) and smart TVs (SL, VL, WL series and others).
It has been tested so far with a Toshiba BDX5500 Blu Ray player.
Before usage you first need to ensure your target device is connected to your home network (if possible with a stable IP address), and configure External Control, all via the settings on the device itself.
You'll need to select a port number (default is 4000), a username and a password.
Then, install this extension and open the settings panel, to provide the following information :
- The host name or IP of the device you want to control (should usually be of the form 192.168.1.x)
- The port number, username and password, as configured on the device.
- The keymap to use.
The keymap depends on your device - the simplest way to go is simply to try all keymaps until you find one that your device reacts to.
For BDX Blu-ray players, the "BluRay" keymap should usually be selected. (works with the BDX5500 at least)
