- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 19638943, 12 hours agoCurrently unusable for me, as it makes youtube load forever, which slows my browser down significantly. Even putting youtube in the exclude list didn't fix this, just like using the disable option in the plugin. only way to get youtube to work again is by removing this plugin from my browser

posted 7 hours agoThanks for the report. 1-star review for UltimaDark is quite harsh given the significant amount of work that has gone into this project !
This behavior is not reproducible on my side, and YouTube works normally for other users, including with UltimaDark enabled. Excluding YouTube or disabling the extension should prevent any impact, so this points to a setup-specific issue, most likely a conflict with another browser extension or a particular browser configuration.

To investigate this properly, please open an issue and include:
Browser name and version
Other installed extensions
Any relevant console errors
I’ll take a look and see what’s going on. Without those details, I don’t have enough information to diagnose the problem.
Removing the extension is of course a valid workaround for now, but if you want this fixed, an issue report is the right place to continue. - Rated 4 out of 5by Cyberdyne, 13 hours agoOverall, UltimaDark has replaced the venerable Dark Reader extension for myself. Mostly, down it's speed, and other built in settings to speed it up further. Firefox already isn't the most speedy browser on Android, so anything to keep speed up is a good thing to consider.
That said, it's not all roses. I've had websites not properly set text to a lighter color to keep it legible. It's rather rare, but not so rare — you'll eventually encounter it. It's easy enough to add per site exceptions, but an easy way to set per site color fixes would be a good addition. It is obvious when you should blame the extension, so I haven't been left scratching my head as to why I can't read something at least.
A bug that's easy to reproduce is. Keep tabs alive between Firefox sessions, open a website you need UltimaDark for, close Firefox, then when you reopen Firefox that website will not have UltimaDark applied at all until it's refreshed.
These are minor complaints though, and it's at least worth trying and probably replacing your current dark mode website extension with this.Developer response
posted 7 hours agoThank you for the detailed and well-balanced review — I really appreciate the time you took to explain both what works well and what doesn’t. A 4-star review with concrete feedback is genuinely helpful.
Regarding text contrast issues: I personally haven’t encountered many cases, but that’s clearly influenced by the set of sites I visit. Other users have reported similar situations, so it’s a valid point. Per-site color adjustments have already been requested in a GitHub issue; it’s something I’m looking at, though it’s non-trivial to implement cleanly without adding complexity or performance cost.
The Firefox session restore behavior you describe is also useful to know. If you haven’t already, feel free to open a GitHub issue with a few details — that’s exactly the kind of reproducible case that can be debugged and fixed.
UltimaDark is actively maintained, and feedback like this helps steer improvements in a practical direction. You’re very welcome to continue the discussion on GitHub. - Rated 5 out of 5by drifty, 4 days ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 19579903, a month agoa great alternative for dark reader! less hit on performance and it actually works on more websites. Ebay was having issues with dark reader but this extension works no problem. Hopefully this projects keep being maintained :)
- Rated 5 out of 5by RejZoR, 2 months agoI used DarkReader for ages but wasn't happy with it because it's so fiddly and its interface and settings are very confusing. UltimaDark however works way better out of the box, exclusions are easy to use and apply, I can export the settings easier. I just like UltimaDark way more. A must have extension for OLED display users.

posted 2 months ago🛠️ Update 1.6.25 — Firefox 144 Compatibility Fix
This release addresses the major compatibility issue introduced by Firefox 144, which caused UltimaDark to stop working due to the removal of the legacy CSS2Properties interface.
If you recently updated Firefox and noticed that UltimaDark no longer applied any styles, this update fixes that problem.
🔧 What Happened
Starting with Firefox 144, Mozilla removed support for CSS2Properties, a deprecated interface that was still being referenced in several parts of the code. Developer response

- Rated 5 out of 5by WD-40, 4 months agoThe extension works great and the developer is a cool dude. But on some websites it's just not working well. For example IMDB.com is all garbled up on Firefox on Android, the preview videos fail to load and some images just won't open. Please be kind and fix it.
Thank you so much ThomazPom, you're doing God's work! - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 19239852, 4 months agoDark mode doesn't work after version 1.6.22! Fix pls!

https://github.com/ThomazPom/Moz-Ext-UltimaDark/issues - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14181739, 4 months agoI've used a few different dark mode extensions over the years, but UltimaDark is FAST! Not only is it fast, but it handles websites with progressively loading content far better than even the fabled Dark Reader.
- Rated 1 out of 5by romɛro, 4 months agoCorrecting my last rating. The extension is broke on Ironfox, Iceraven, and Waterfox. Enabling will temporarily keep it running on most sites, but exiting the app will break it.
*Update - the extension might be going through too many growth spurts atm.. it's been hit or miss for the past few weeks. Going back to the heavier/slower Darkreader for the time being. - Rated 5 out of 5by CTW, 4 months agoI'm really glad to see this excellent extension getting an update! For me, one of the biggest hurdles in moving away from Chrome-based browsers has been finding a good dark mode solution. This extension has great potential to remove that hurdle, which is why it's the one I care about the most. The updated modern UI looks fantastic, and I hope more people will discover how great this extension is.
- Rated 5 out of 5by DaemonCipher, 4 months agoThe GOAT dark mode extension has been updated! Thank you for your hard work ThomazPom! Seems to work so much better than before.
- Rated 5 out of 5by John Albert, 5 months agoJust discovered this extension and really surprised at how its even faster than chromium in rendering dark mode! However, I see there hasn't been any new updates this year. Really hope you don't abandon this awesome project!

- Rated 4 out of 5by Terry, 6 months agoUD's way more lightweight than the bigger extensions; thank you so much Thomaz!
One issue I've been running into is Twitch streams being covered by the extension. I've tried changing the "precision" value (tried 1, tried 10) and it hasn't seemed to make a difference. Hope you can provide some help with that, but great work otherwise!!
Edit: I see that this issue's been brought up on github back in February. Hopefully progress on that's still going well! - Rated 4 out of 5by Craig, 7 months ago
- Rated 4 out of 5by Nokami, 7 months agoOnly using for a few days now, but the performance difference compared to the absurd Night Reader is instantly noticable. It's certainly not perfect yet but after changing to this it's difficult to go back.
