by KataStrofY, 4 years agoThis is a great tool, but for some reason it keeps downloading the dictionary every time I restart firefox, which is quite anoying since it makes firefox take up necessary CPU from other applications.
For some reason, under Windows 7, Name Data 2.0.13 and newer does not want to be installed.
Under Windows 10, this doesnt seem to be a problem (latest Firefox versions on both machines, 82.0.3 64-bit).

Once you look up the word, you can find the kanji decomposition. It's detailed and easy at the same time. Please try.Developer response

- Rated 5 out of 5by Shaitan Venit, 4 months agoAmazing extension, this is going to help me a lot to learn Japanese. One feature I wish it had is to display furigana over kanji when on hover. That aside, I'm glad I found this extension. Good job!

posted 5 months agoHi hhoganmc, I'm sorry to hear it's not working for you. Would you be able to contact me at info@birchill.co.jp so we can try to work out what's wrong?
You'll need to activate the add-on after pinning it to the toolbar or pressing Alt+R. I hope that helps!- Rated 5 out of 5by Boris Chiou, 5 months agoThis is very easy to use. The Japanese accent is really useful when I look up the new words and try to speak them.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14009125, 10 months agothe bundled font change is jarring, I'd much rather use a font that is consistent with my system. The "a" used to have a hat (not round) and the characters used to have smaller proportions, for example.
That aside... it's quite good at recognizing words.Developer response
posted 10 months agoThank you! That's very good feedback. I've filed an issue at https://github.com/birchill/10ten-ja-reader/issues/1799 and will see what other users think of the change.
At very least, we can restore the hat on the "a" very easily and we could add an option to use a system font too.
Update: We've just released a new version (1.19.1) which adds a setting to use system fonts. Thanks for the feedback! - Rated 5 out of 5by willow, a year agoIncredibly useful for immersion reading and it's even really decent for reading things in chinese! the wanikani/bunpro features are a nice touch too
