🌐 Aar318's Live Translator: Website and Live Chat Translation

Translate website text, selected passages and unsent drafts into your chosen language. Dedicated Twitch, Kick and YouTube chat controls work alongside a compact overlay for other websites. Translation starts off and is enabled by you.

🚀 Getting Started

Install the extension and click its toolbar icon on an ordinary website. Approve website access if prompted; the permission covers websites together.
Read the one-time introduction, then use the globe to enable or disable translation.
Click or right-click the settings gear to choose languages, translation modes, in-page versus overlay controls, and an overlay corner. Other websites always use the overlay.
Focus a text field and click ⇄ to translate its unsent draft, or select a passage and use Translate selected text. The extension never sends the message for you.

🔐 Permissions & Privacy

Storage: Saves inbound/outbound language choices, automatic-outbound preference, translation mode, channel profiles, filters, last detected incoming language, and injected-button visibility.
Active Tab and Scripting: Recover the bundled translator in the page where the extension icon is clicked, including already-open pages after an update or permission grant.
Context Menus: Adds extension-icon controls and the user-invoked Translate selected text command.
Host Permissions: Runs on ordinary HTTP/HTTPS websites and allows translation requests to translate.googleapis.com. Website access can be approved together and revoked through extension permissions.
Translation Data: Only eligible website/chat text, an explicitly selected passage or an unsent draft chosen for translation, together with the target-language code, is sent to Google Translate. Requests omit browser credentials. Password fields are excluded from draft translation; editable fields are excluded from automatic page translation.
Local Data: Chat messages, selected text, translations, and message-author names are not written to browser storage. Translation caches exist only in memory for the page session.
No Tracking: No analytics, advertising tracking, or streaming-platform account is required.

Protected browser pages, closed shadow roots and arbitrary embedded frames cannot be translated. Automatic website translation targets safe text blocks; use selected-text translation for mixed formatting.
The introduction appears on the first explicit control interaction and is remembered across future versions. A fresh installation shows it again.
Incoming translation starts disabled and runs only when the user enables it.
Automatic outbound translation is off by default. Outbound translation replaces an unsent draft but never sends a chat message automatically.
