The scripting permission is required to inject our custom color picker interface into Google Calendar pages. This allows users to:

Apply and persist custom color choices to calendar events on the calendar.google.com domain
Register content scripts that run in the main world context to interact with Google Calendar's JavaScript framework
All scripts run only on calendar.google.com and are essential for the extension's core functionality of adding more color options to Google Calendar events.
