Privacy policy for Algoasis – Feed Filters & Focus
The full, current policy is at https://algoasis.com/privacy
Last updated: Oct 2026
Algoasis respects your privacy. We collect as little data as possible and only use it for the purpose we clearly explain below.
What we collect
If you sign up for updates, we collect:
- Your email address
If you send us a problem report from the app or a browser extension, we receive that report, as described under Problem reports.
Our website also measures its visits with Google Analytics, as described under Website analytics. Apart from a problem report you send, the Algoasis apps and browser extensions send us nothing about you: see Your Algoasis data.
That's it. No profiles, no tracking across the web, no hidden data collection.
How we use your email
We use your email only to:
- Send updates about the Algoasis launch
- Share major product announcements related to Algoasis
- Reply to a problem report, if you gave your email address with it
We do not:
- Sell your data
- Share your email with third parties
- Use your email for advertising
- Track your behavior across other sites
Email storage
Your email is stored securely using a third-party email service provider. It is only accessible to the Algoasis team and only for the purposes described above.
Your Algoasis data
The Algoasis apps and browser extensions send us nothing unless you send a problem report. Everything you set up in Algoasis, and the usage history it keeps, is stored on your device. While you're signed in to iCloud, Algoasis also keeps a copy in your own private iCloud database so your devices stay in step, unless you turn iCloud sync off in Settings. That database belongs to your Apple Account, and we cannot read it.
Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details: the app reads your subscription's status, meaning which plan you are on and until when, from Apple on your device.
Diagnostics stay on your device too. If you export them from Settings, the file goes only where you choose to send it. If you send a problem report, the diagnostics listed under Problem reports go with it.
Analytics & tracking
At this stage:
- We do not use advertising trackers
- We do not build user profiles
- We do not track you across sites
Our website measures its visits with Google Analytics; see Website analytics. The Algoasis apps and browser extensions contain no analytics.
Algoasis asks other services for a site's icon (Site icons), a site's name (Site names), an app's name (App names), and a help video when you open one (Help videos). We attach no account or identifier for you or your device to these requests. A problem report goes to our own report server only when you send it (Problem reports).
If this changes in the future, this policy will be updated before any new data collection begins.
Problem reports
Report a problem in Settings sends a report only when you tap Send report. Algoasis never sends a report on
its own.
A report holds:
- What you write, and your email address if you give one for a reply
- What the report is about and, when you report a filter, which filter on which site
- Your device type and model, its system version, the app and extension versions, your language and time zone, and your browser's user-agent
- The filters that have stopped finding anything on your devices, with the device type, browser and version that noticed
- Recent Algoasis logs, with every web address in them cut to the site's name (for example
https://www.youtube.com) - From the app, also the app's own logs and the crash and performance reports Apple's MetricKit gives it
It does not hold your goals, tasks, limits or usage history.
The report goes to our report server, which runs on Cloudflare Workers, and becomes an issue in our private GitHub repository, which only the Algoasis team can read. Cloudflare and GitHub handle it for us under Cloudflare's privacy policy and GitHub's privacy statement. The logs and other files sent with a report are deleted after 90 days. The issue itself, with what you wrote and the details listed above apart from the logs, stays until we delete it; you can ask us to delete it at any time.
Our report server receives your IP address with each request, as any web server does. It uses the address only to limit how many reports and status checks can come from one network in a minute, and does not store it.
The device you sent a report from keeps its report number and shows it under Your reports, with the report's status. To check statuses, Algoasis sends our report server only the numbers of the reports that device sent, along with the IP address and user-agent every web request carries. To have a report deleted, contact us with its number.
Help videos
Opening a help video loads YouTube's privacy-enhanced embedded player from
youtube-nocookie.com. Your device connects directly to YouTube, which receives your IP address, browser information, the video requested, and the embedding origin or app identifier. Playing the video also sends playback requests to YouTube. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.Algoasis does not send your configured websites, limits, or usage history to the player. The player loads only when you open the video dialog and is removed when you close it. Native app players use a separate, temporary WebView without access to the app's native bridge or its saved website data. In a browser extension or on a web page the player runs in your browser, so YouTube also receives any YouTube or Google cookies your browser already holds and its third-party cookie settings allow.
Site icons
Algoasis shows each site's own icon beside it. It asks the site itself first, at the site's usual icon address. Some sites publish no icon there; only for those does Algoasis ask DuckDuckGo's icon service,
icons.duckduckgo.com, for one. When that happens, the request carries the site's domain name. Your device makes it directly, exactly as your browser does for any image on a web page, so DuckDuckGo also sees your IP address, your browser's user-agent, and any cookies your browser already holds for DuckDuckGo. Cookies belonging to the site whose icon is being fetched are not sent — they never leave that site. We attach nothing of our own: no page address, no referrer (the request is marked
no-referrer), no account, and no identifier for you or your device. A site that serves its own icon is never named to the service at all.Addresses we recognise as private are never sent: anything on your local network or under a reserved private domain (for example
.local, .internal, .lan, .home.arpa), an IP address, and any address carrying a port. That check is a list of known private naming conventions rather than a test of whether an address can actually be reached from the internet, so a private machine published under an ordinary public domain name would not be recognised as private.Icons are loaded as ordinary images. Algoasis does not record which icons were requested, and no icon request reaches an Algoasis server.
Site names
When you add a site by typing its address, Algoasis fetches that site's home page to read the name the site gives itself, so it appears in your list under that name. The request goes to the site you typed, without cookies and without a referrer, and the site sees what it sees on any visit: your IP address and your browser's standard headers. Addresses we recognise as private, as described under Site icons, are never looked up, and neither are sites you pick from the list Algoasis suggests.
App names
Insights can list the apps you used most on your Mac. To show each one under its App Store name, Algoasis asks Apple's App Store lookup service,
itunes.apple.com. The request names the app by its identifier (for example com.example.app) and carries a two-letter country code taken from your language and region setting; if that country's store has no listing, Algoasis asks once more with the United States' code. We attach nothing else: no cookies, no referrer, no account, no identifier for you or your device, and nothing about how long you used the app. Your device makes the request directly, so Apple also sees your IP address and your browser's standard headers. The name that comes back is saved with your Algoasis data, so an app is looked up again only after 30 days, or when you change language.
Website analytics
Our website, algoasis.com, uses Google Analytics to measure how many people visit and which pages they read. When you open a page there, your browser loads Google's analytics script, which sets cookies on algoasis.com and sends Google the address of the page, the page that linked you to it, your IP address, and details of your browser and device. Google handles that data under its own privacy policy. We use the reports only to see how the website is used.
Google Analytics runs only on the website, never in the Algoasis apps or browser extensions. You can block it with your browser's tracking protection or a content blocker, and the website works the same without it.
