What the extension reads and sends:
- On every page, only its citation meta tags and address, to tell whether it is a paper. A page that is not a paper is not reported anywhere. On a paper, the chip asks your open Anneal tab, inside your browser, whether the paper is in your library.
- In a Google Doc, after you pause typing, the Doc's text through Google Docs' own export, with your sign-in. It goes only to your open Anneal tab in the same browser. At most three key terms (genes, organisms, methods) are sent to Europe PMC to find papers; the paragraph itself is never sent.
- On a toolbar click, only the page you clicked. A click opens your Anneal tab; the page's words travel in the address's # part, which a browser never sends to a server.
- Zotero import reads Zotero's local API on your computer; that request never leaves your computer.
- The extension stores only your settings. Your lab's data stays in your browser. Nothing is sold or shared.
