Latest version
Version 1.0.9
Released Oct 15, 2026 - 108.66 KBWorks with firefox 109.0a1 and laterHighlighting now elects one control per category: the most frequent matching term from the reviewed language corpus wins, so a consent banner shows at most one accept, one reject, and one settings highlight, and the next best match takes over when the highlighted control disappears. When the same term matches a standalone control and a link embedded in the banner's running text, the standalone control wins, so descriptive links no longer take the highlight away from the actual button. The colour now paints the visible button face: a transparent wrapper around an opaque face passes the highlight onto the covering element. Accessibility labels now count only when a control also shows rendered text, so icon-only buttons whose label is invisible stay unmarked. The packaged language corpus is now sorted by term frequency. A new settings option can restrict highlighting to interactive controls such as buttons and links.Source code released under Mozilla Public License 2.0

Version 1.0.8
Released Oct 2, 2026 - 103.46 KBWorks with firefox 109.0a1 and laterHighlighting now waits for a recognised cookie notice: Argus knows short phrases from reviewed consent banners and only highlights controls on pages where such a notice appears, so unrelated buttons such as a plain "Accept" stay unmarked. Controls inside embedded consent frames are always highlighted, and cookie notices hidden inside shadow containers are recognised as well. A new setting can turn this check off.Source code released under Mozilla Public License 2.0

Version 1.0.6
Released Oct 2, 2026 - 41.61 KBWorks with firefox 109.0a1 and laterHighlighting now tries to focus on cookie banners: recognised controls are coloured inside banner overlays and embedded consent frames, matches in ordinary page content are usually left unhighlighted, and a new setting can turn the restriction off. Banners that load in a hidden state are now picked up once they become visible. The language corpus was reduced to a smaller set of terms. Page analysis is now much faster, especially on large, dynamic websites.Source code released under Mozilla Public License 2.0
