Ask ChatGPT Sidebar (Unofficial) does not operate a server and does not collect, sell, or retain user data for the developer.


The user's custom prompt template is stored locally using Firefox extension storage. It is not sent to the extension developer.


When a user highlights webpage text and deliberately selects Ask ChatGPT about selected text, the extension:

1. Combines the selected text with the user's locally saved prompt template.
2. Includes the webpage title or URL only when the user has added the {title} or {url} placeholder.
3. Temporarily stores the resulting prompt in Firefox extension storage.
4. Removes the temporary copy when the sidebar loads.
5. Sends the resulting prompt directly to chatgpt.com so ChatGPT can process it.

This action transmits selected website content to OpenAI. OpenAI's terms and privacy policy govern the processing of information submitted to ChatGPT.

The extension does not automatically read or transmit webpage content in the background. Information is transmitted only after the user activates the right-click command.


The extension does not use:

• Analytics
• Advertising trackers
• Developer-operated servers
• Data brokers
• Background browsing-history collection
