About this extension
AsyVault is a local-first password manager for Firefox, with separate Personal and Developer vaults for passwords, secure notes and developer secrets.
LOCAL ENCRYPTED STORAGE
Vault contents are encrypted locally using AES-256-GCM, with encryption keys derived from your master password. An AsyVault account is not required for local use.
EVERYDAY FEATURES
Generate passwords, search and organize saved entries, and export or import encrypted .asyvault backups. Optional website integration helps you save and fill logins on supported HTTPS websites after you grant the necessary site permissions.
OPTIONAL GITHUB BACKUP
Connect your own GitHub account to back up and synchronize encrypted vault snapshots in your private asyvault-data repository. Your master password is not uploaded.
GitHub receives encrypted snapshots and the account and request metadata needed to provide this service. The GitHub connection uses OAuth with the repo scope, which grants broader repository access than the backup repository alone.
FIREFOX DATA PERMISSIONS
GitHub backup and recovery require Firefox 140 or later and your approval of the optional data-transmission permissions. Declining these permissions does not prevent local vault use.
IMPORTANT
AsyVault is an early-stage project and has not undergone an independent security audit. Keep separate encrypted backups and do not rely on it as the only storage location for critical recovery information.
