About this extension
Auteura is a virtual camera for Firefox. It adds “Auteura Virtual Camera” to websites’ camera lists, and the picture it sends gets background blur, framing, looks and color, all processed on your device.
Background
- Blur everything that isn’t you, with adjustable strength and edge softness
- Portrait light: a soft light on you, positioned where you want it
- Skin smoothing that touches only the person
Framing
- Digital zoom up to 4×, position and mirroring
- Follow me keeps you centered while zoomed in
Look and color
- Built-in looks, or import your own .cube LUT files and .zip LUT packs
- Exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, temperature, tint and saturation
- Sharpening, vignette and film grain
How to use it
Click the toolbar button to open the controls in the sidebar. On a video site such as Google Meet, Zoom or Teams on the web, allow the camera, then choose “Auteura Virtual Camera” as your camera, or turn on “Default camera for sites” so sites that ask for any camera get it automatically. Changes apply live. “Open preview” shows the same picture in its own tab, so you can set things up before a call.
Where it works
Websites in Firefox, including Firefox for Android. It doesn’t appear in desktop apps (the Zoom or Teams apps, OBS), because those don’t use the browser’s camera.
Privacy
Everything is processed on your device. Auteura has no servers, no accounts and no analytics, and makes no network requests of its own. Your video goes only to the site you’re using it with.
