by firebox666, 7 years agoThis version is a disaster, do not install until this thing gets some testing.
- Defaulted to Auto Sort after update. The First Rule of Extension Club is - Don't default something on, especially when it's buggy as hell.
- Missing functionality present in previous version - The Second Rule of Extension Club - don't default something on when it has less functionality
- It is completely confused about separators, these are just ending up wherever.
Looks like you took this over from the original developer. Good for you, but you would have been better off changing the name and not misleading people as to what they're getting. I have a lot of bookmarks, and they are synced across multiple browsers with Xmarks, so this thing screwing the pooch resulted in me spending a good hour getting things sorted (no pun intended), which I eventually rectified by reloading the last 2.x version (which actually works).
Sorry if this sounds harsh, but learn to beta. If I load some half-tested or untested garbage that I know is beta, that's on me. You unleashing it on thousands of people without their knowledge, that's on you.

posted 7 years agoNext version will disable auto-sort by default. I did release betas of 3.0, so I expect you to help test the next update on the GitHub site: https://github.com/eric-bixby/auto-sort-bookmarks-webext
Keep in mind this is an open-source product that I do in my spare time and not Fight Club. We all need to contribute, so you can do that by helping test it and not expect others to do it for you.

- Rated 4 out of 5by chojrak11, a year agoI like this extension, however there's one thing that could be improved: Inactivity wait "Minimum value of 3 and maximum of 255." Why is that? I want the sort to occur immediately! I'm wasting a lot of time waiting until the folder that I drag and drop lands in its ordered position. Please make a minimum of 0 seconds!

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13524479, 2 years agoOne and only real extension that does that job. Does it perfectly well. Does it in ALL folders and ALL sub-folders. And on top of all that, does it automatically.
Damn @*$%ing cool.
Thanks for developing and sharing that lovely piece of code. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 11777944, 2 years ago

- Rated 3 out of 5by kham013, 3 years agoI uninstalled it because it didn't work as I expected. To restore bookmarks, I used Firefox's Bookmark Manager : Fine. Is it possible to sort only one folder ? how ?

posted 3 years agoYou would use the "exclude folders" feature, but wait till the feature/bug is fixed: https://github.com/eric-bixby/auto-sort-bookmarks-webext/issues/75 - Rated 3 out of 5by Nik A, 3 years agoWorked best with what it describes. However, after making it auto-sort my bookmarks recursively, I found that my browser became extremely unstable and prone to crashing.

- Rated 3 out of 5by L P, 3 years agoThis ad on worked brilliantly for couple of years, but this last month, I have noticed is not sorting some files. I create a new all encompassing every year where then I create folders that are named: a-b-c; d-e-f-g; h-i-j-k and so forth. In the past, it has sorted them out immediately. Now, however, it pushes d-e-f-g before a-b-c. I double checked to make sure there were no spaces before or after each series of letters... I just cannot understand why this is happening. I have over 10.000 bookmarks, and it is fundamental for me they get sorted out alphabetically for easy retrieval, no matter whether it takes 10 seconds or 1 full minute. But as expressed, it worked brilliantly before.

posted 3 years agoFor things like this, it's better to open an issue on the support site. Also, if I cannot reproduce the problem, then the problem does not exist. It might help to get a "filtered" copy of your bookmarks and the steps to reproduce the problem. - Rated 5 out of 5by Imagine, 3 years ago
