BA Convert: File Converter by Betsan Ambrose
This policy explains what information BA Convert (www.baconvert.com) handles when you use the website, and the choices you have. BA Convert is run by Betsan, an individual based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. In short: the files and text you put into our tools are processed in your browser and are never uploaded to us. 1. Files and text you process
All tools on BA Convert, including the image, PDF, Word, data, QR code, barcode, hash, calculator and text tools, run in your web browser using JavaScript. When you choose a file or type text into a tool:
the file or text is read and processed on your own device;
it is not uploaded to BA Convert or to any other server, and we cannot see it;
results are created on your device and saved only when you download them;
nothing remains once you close or reload the tab.
This covers passwords you type into Protect PDF or Unlock PDF, UPI IDs, WiFi passwords in QR codes, and figures you enter in calculators. You can confirm it yourself by opening your browser's developer tools, going to the Network tab and using a tool: no file is sent.
- Information collected automatically
Like most websites, when your browser requests a page, the hosting provider receives technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page and the time. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix errors. We do not collect your name, email address or phone number unless you choose to email us. - Analytics
We use these services to understand which tools are used and where pages need improvement:
Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) records pages viewed, approximate location (city or country level), device and browser type, and simple tool events such as "a file was added", "convert was clicked" or "a file was downloaded". Only the tool's page name is sent with these events, never file names or contents. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation) records anonymised interactions such as clicks, scrolling and page layout to show where the site is hard to use. The tool area of every page is masked, so text you type and the names of files you choose are not recorded. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
4. Advertising (Google AdSense and Google Ads)
BA Convert is free because it shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads and measure them:
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, and out of some third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu (Europe).
We also use a Google Ads tag to measure whether our own ads on Google bring visitors to the site.
Read more in how Google uses cookies in advertising. We do not sell your personal information, and we never give advertisers your files or what you type into tools.
- Cookies and your choices
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. BA Convert itself does not need cookies for the tools to work. Cookies on this site come from the analytics and advertising services above. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, a consent message from a Google-certified consent platform asks for your choice before personalised ads and related cookies are used; you can change it at any time from the privacy link it provides.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use private browsing, or use a content blocker. The tools will keep working; you may see less relevant ads.
- Other services the site uses
Hosting and delivery: the site is hosted on Vercel and may be delivered through a content delivery network such as Cloudflare. These providers process the technical request data described in section 2.
Exchange rates: the currency converter pages request the latest rates from ExchangeRate-API (open.er-api.com) directly from your browser. That service receives your IP address and the currency requested, nothing else.
Links to other sites: pages link to official sites such as exam boards, GST and passport portals. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them. - Browser extension
The BA Convert browser extension processes files entirely on your device, like the website. It has no analytics, no ads and no account, and it does not send your files or any information about you anywhere. When you drag an image from a website into the extension, or use "Open in BA Convert" on an image, the extension downloads that image from the website it is on (after asking your permission for that site). Settings are kept only in your browser. - Data kept on your device
The site stores a few preferences in your browser's local storage: your light or dark theme, and the last few tools you opened (shown as "Recently used" on the homepage). This stays on your device, is never sent to us, and can be cleared from your browser settings or with the Clear button on the homepage. - Children
The tools are suitable for students, but the site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Ads shown are subject to Google's policies. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it. - Your rights (India DPDP Act and GDPR)
Because we do not collect your files or ask for your identity, we usually hold no personal data about you beyond emails you send us. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and, for visitors in the European Union and United Kingdom, the GDPR, you may ask to access, correct or delete personal data we hold, withdraw consent, and nominate someone to exercise your rights. For data held by Google or Microsoft through the services above, use their tools: Google data and privacy and the Microsoft privacy dashboard. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. - How long data is kept
Files and text you process: not kept at all. Emails you send us: kept as long as needed to answer and follow up, then deleted on request. Google Analytics data: kept for 14 months. Server logs held by hosting providers: kept according to their policies, usually a few weeks. - Contact and grievances
For any privacy question, request or complaint, contact Betsan (grievance contact) at info@baconvert.com, or use the contact page. We aim to reply within 2 working days and resolve grievances within 30 days. - Changes to this policy
If the services we use change, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change. Significant changes will also be noted on the About page changelog.
