Better Passwords handles information to fill and save logins and suggest email addresses. The developer receives none of this information.

Passwords and usernames: the extension uses Apple's local macOS password helper to look up matching logins, retrieve the login you choose, and save generated logins. Passwords, usernames, pairing keys and temporary suggestions stay in browser memory; they are not saved to the extension's disk storage. Filling makes the chosen information available to the website. Apple manages any iCloud Keychain syncing.

Site addresses: the current hostname is sent to Apple's helper locally to look up matching logins. Settings are saved in browser extension storage on your device.

Hide My Email (off by default): if enabled, the extension connects to Apple iCloud using your icloud.com session cookies. It retrieves aliases and, when you create one, sends the alias and the current site's hostname to Apple as a label. Temporary service information and alias suggestions are kept in memory. Firefox requests optional data permissions when you enable the feature. Turning it off or revoking those permissions prevents further iCloud requests. An Apple iCloud+ subscription is required for this optional feature.

Optional Mac companion: with your Contacts permission, the companion reads email addresses from your own contact card and keeps them in memory for ten minutes. Choosing one fills it into the website. With Touch ID confirmation, the companion reads Apple's pairing code and passes it locally to the extension; it does not store the code.

No analytics, telemetry, ads or developer backend. No sale of data or use for advertising. Information is shared only with Apple's services, the local helper/companion, and the websites you choose, as described above.
