- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13432497, 8 years agoThe main reason I installed the extension a long time was to block stuff embedded in pages or encapsuled in a frame. BlockSite was the only extension I could find, that would let me do that.
With the latest update, blocking those things no longer works and thus the extension is absolutely useless now for my purposes.Developer response

Thank you for this input!
We are aware of the fact that this update has caused some bugs and irregularities.
We would like to assure you that every review and user feedback is being checked thoroughly to understand what matters to our users and what needs to be fixed.
It is important to note that due to the strict deadline coming from Firefox, urging extensions to move to the all-new WebExtension standard, we had to release a new version as soon as possible.
In addition, we would like to let you know that we are working on fixing these issues as we speak but not only that - we’re also planning on making Blocksite better than ever before with significant improvements.
We apologize for this inconvenience. Your patience and understanding are much appreciated.

Blocksite Support - Rated 1 out of 5by badsax, 8 years agoIf it was possible to give this update ZERO starts... that's what it would get.
A perfectly useful extension that was updated without my consent to a completely useless extension.
Every time I start Firefox I get to be reminded that this extension exists and now is terrible... great... it doesn't seem to remember any of my previously blocked sites, it doesn't seem to block sites that you add to it. When you add a site, it no longer accepts all wildcards " * " and will not accept sites that end in " .whatever " if it's not a dot com or something standard, forget being able to add it...
It seems if I go back to a previous version, I can downgrade it back to 'useful' but I guess I have to do that every time I start Firefox.
So disappointing. If someone knows another extension that will currently do what this one used to do, please let us all know!Developer response

Blocksite Support - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13431653, 8 years agoBlockSite started out OK and was quite effective in blocking a Verizon horror that trashes the address line if you make an address typo. While Verizon has instructions for removing this unwanted mischief, the instructions are outdated and inappropriate. BlockSite was a wonderful solution.
That was a year ago.
Today BlockSite has degenerated into a virus that's displayed when Firefox opens. Ironically, the virus thanks me for having installed the BlockSite malware roughly a year ago.
Time to move on to a product that blocks the intended site without co-opting my browser.Developer response

Blocksite Support - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13431524, 8 years agoIt was a lot more BETTER BEFORE THIS UPDATE. The redirect page is driving me insane, it was way better with the little window on the bottom, now I'm thinking of removing it and find another blocker. Please go back to the old version, or at least change the redirection page to the little window there was before.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13430622, 8 years agoThe New update has being annoying me. I think I may have found the solution. I copied the URL. I use Firefox. I clicked on open menu and then add-ons. I opened block site and pasted the url into it. Since I done this the new tab does not appear.

I loved the extension till the latest update, but now everytime I open firefox this extra tab opens up saying THANKS for installing this shit!!!
I thought If I clicked that shit button to see how its working (as if I already don't know from the last 3 years of use) that it would go away! but no!! keeps coming back...
I mean i know i installed your fucking extension but you do not have to fucking keep reminding me of that every fucking time i fucking open fucking firefox. Now do you? Cunt!Developer response

Blocksite Support - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13430257, 8 years agoThe app appears to work perfectly. To date, I have no complaints. I don't understand why some users whine about reminders. I've had this installed for awhile and it is doing what it claimed. No redirects, no annoying spam, and not holding sites I visited, only those blocked, which I have the option to delete. Perhaps some users don't know how to set the On/Off switches, or maybe I have not learned everything about it yet..

- Rated 1 out of 5by Jamikz, 8 years agoPlease don't redirect to that "This page was blocked by BlockSite extension".
Use that little window on the lower right side of the screen when site is blocked.
I don't want you redirecting me to that blocksite page when i use blocksite to prevent me from being redirected to any page in the first place.Developer response

Blocksite Support - Rated 2 out of 5by Paul Dodd, 8 years agoI'd forgotten I'd installed this, which is exactly how I expect this kind of add-on to work. You certainly can't forget about it now so I'm going to remove it instead.

- Rated 3 out of 5by elctro, 8 years agothanks for the awesome add-on
please make it like the old version when just show notification that the page is blocked then it vanished & not opening a page saying it's block! it's annoying
the other thing is it doesn't add URL like this one (http://appiness.online) it says incorrect URL! it should add any kind of URLs even the an expected one
& last please make the block list sync with browser account - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 13429427, 8 years agoHi Blocking Site team!
Latest build 3.1.14 doesn't work at all on my Firefox 56.0.2.
I've installed previous version 1.1.9.0 and it works again! :)
I'm aware that it's not compatible with Firefox 57...
I understand that you needed to upgrade your add-on according to Firefox update but deploying a buggy version doesnt sound good in my opinion! :)
Anyway, thanks for this great addon in 1.1.9.0 with Firefox 56... :)
Regards
François - Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 13429263, 8 years agoBefore the update I was satisfield with that extension.
After the update, it shows up the "thank you" page every start and I cannot turn it off.
The interface was also changed and it seems, you have to use a different syntax to successfully add pages to be blocked by BlockSite.
I will search for a different tool, if it continues to open the extra page every start of Firefox.
Edit: To successfully add a site to block, you have to use 'www.pagename.ending'. just 'pagename.ending' will not work.Developer response
