- Rated 5 out of 5by MOZuser, 6 months agoThis add-on is the best thing since sliced bread. You heard me right!
BUT, Youtube temporarily broke it around Oct 1, 2024 by changing an API to further their war against ad blockers.
Seriously, the ONLY reason this add-on is not more popular is people don't know about it. I have almost complete control of what YT decides to throw in my face - wonderful!
It makes YT usable again.
Many heartfelt thanks to the author! - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18620508, 6 months agoedit: the bug affecting context menu blocking mentioned below was fixed (v. 0.4.4.).
if you experience youtube disabling playback due to blocktube: make sure to uncheck the "Disable YouTube's audio loudness normalization" setting in blocktube.
-----------------------------
the addon works great until youtube makes changes and breaks its functionality.
currently (v. 0.4.3.) the option to click the three dots beside a video and choose to block a video or channel is broken.
manually typing the video/channel id into the blocking filters still works.
the content that was blocked earlier by video/channel title, and video/channel id is staying blocked and the blocking of shorts also still works.
advanced blocking still works.
the addon needs an update to fix current bugs. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 12985410, 6 months agoIt's been half-broken in firefox and derivative browsers (such as waterfox) for about 1/3rd of a year and the author clearly doesn't care. As of today it's now *completely* broken in firefox/etc. Avoid this abandonware and switch to the objectively better YouTube Content Blocker by Joseph Crowell.
- Rated 4 out of 5by ジョンスミス, 6 months agoFirst of all, I really thanks to Author.
But this add-on,some time doesn't work.
I tried to find reason...
I suspect “Interfering with another add-on?”
and check all add-on, but I couldn't find why.
If it worked perfectly, All people wold Release from shameless ad movie and unpleasant face of youtuber,
make us heart be in paradise.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Astral Haze, 7 months agomakes youtube usable by letting you block racism, gore, etc. It would be nice if the context menu let you add a comment at the time of blocking (you can add a comment in the list manually after blocking you just have to remember to edit the list)

- Rated 5 out of 5by Johnny Scot, 8 months agoHi, I want to suggest reinstating a feature this add-on used to have: it used to be able to block individual commenters as well as channels, for example, if you see a spammer saying the same garbage over and over in all comment sections you look at, you can click on the three-dots icon on the right side of this commenter and hit "block user" and he would be gone forever, you won't see him again, but lately, at least since a few months ago, this feature was gone, when you click on the three-dots thing of the commenter you only see "report", which is the youtube default feature, but no more "block user" or "block channel" (I can't remember the wording this add-on used, but the block-user-through-comment definitely came with this add-on before, since youtube never let you just block users in the comment section). So please consider putting this feature back with your add-on, thank you!

- Rated 5 out of 5by Matthew, 8 months agoCan you please add an option to disable live stream recommendations. Please! I swear, every year, Youtube gets worse and worse and worse!
- Rated 3 out of 5by Zardoz Xerxes, 8 months agoThis triggers Youtube's add blocker detection meaning you cant watch videos with it enabled. Kinda useless if you actually want to use youtube to watch videos.
Turns out it was the "Disable YouTube's audio loudness normalization" option that was triggering youtubes add block detection. - Rated 2 out of 5by WilberWisdom, 8 months agoDoes not block channels anymore. Currently when you click to block a channel, it does add the channel to Channel ID list, but the channel and its videos still show up on YouTube.

- Rated 5 out of 5by vaultapple, 9 months agoBlocktube has been working great,
After the last update on Firefox android, the three dots button on the side of videos seems to be broken. Also the import button in the settings seems to be broken. - Rated 5 out of 5by hubakon1368, 9 months agoPlaylists from channels I've blocked are still appearing while searching videos. Also, the "Block Channel" option isn't available when clicking the three-dot menu on comments.

- Rated 4 out of 5by frikdt, 9 months agoI have been using this for a little more than a week. On the plus side, I very much like the convenience of blocking titles/channels directly via the context menu, combined with the power of regex filters for getting rid of those pests that can be matched by a pattern and would otherwise keep cropping up like stubborn weeds; and finally some other very useful features such as blocking those intolerable shorts, and settings import/export capability. The downside, and reason for me not rating 5 stars, are the fact that some previously blocked titles still seem to slip through occasionally, and that updated filters do not get applied to the feed page without a reload - Channel Blocker (the only other extension that comes close IMO, but lacking several of the nice features of this one) manages to do that, so it certainly is possible.
