Bloom Glass New Tab - Privacy Policy
Publisher: RB
In short: Bloom Glass New Tab has no servers and no accounts. It doesn't collect, sell or share your personal data. Everything you enter stays in your own browser.
WHAT THE EXTENSION STORES
These are saved only in your browser's local extension storage on your device:
- Your settings (name for the greeting, light/dark choice, background, glass style, chosen search engines).
- Your shortcuts, tasks and today's focus, and any frequent sites you chose to hide.
- Any background image you upload or link.
- Your weather city (picked from your time zone or typed by you) and the latest forecast.
- Calendar links you add, and the upcoming events read from them (the next 7 days) so they can be shown and reminded.
The publisher never receives any of this. Removing the extension deletes it.
NETWORK REQUESTS THE EXTENSION MAKES
To show what you asked for, the extension contacts these services directly from your browser:
- Calendar feeds: only the iCal links you paste in (for example Google Calendar or Outlook), to read your upcoming events. Your browser asks your permission for each calendar site first.
- Open-Meteo (api.open-meteo.com, geocoding-api.open-meteo.com): an approximate city and its coordinates, to get the forecast. By default the city is picked from your device's time zone; if you type a city in Customize, that one is used instead. No precise location, API key or account is used.
- Shortcut icons: each shortcut shows its site's icon, loaded from that website itself (its /favicon.ico). No list of your shortcuts is sent anywhere.
- Search engines: when you search, your query goes to the engine you picked, just like typing it on that site.
- Image links: if you set a background from a web link, that image is loaded from its site.
Each of these services handles requests under its own privacy policy.
PERMISSIONS
- Replace new tab page: this is the extension's purpose.
- Storage: to keep your settings, shortcuts, tasks and images on your device.
- Most visited sites (optional): asked only if you choose "Both" or "Most visited" for shortcuts. The list is read on your device only, is never stored by the extension or sent anywhere.
- Alarms: to refresh your calendar every 15 minutes and time reminders.
- Notifications: to show a reminder shortly before each calendar event (you can turn this off).
- Access to calendar sites (optional): requested only when you add a calendar link, and only for that site.
WHAT THE EXTENSION DOES NOT DO
- No analytics, tracking, advertising or fingerprinting.
- No reading of your browsing history or the pages you visit, apart from the browser's short most-visited list, only if you turn that option on, and only to show it on your new tab.
- No selling or transfer of data to anyone.
KEEPING YOUR CALENDAR LINK PRIVATE
A calendar's secret iCal address lets anyone who has it read that calendar. The extension keeps it only on your device. Don't share it; you can reset it in your calendar's settings at any time.
CHANGES
If this policy changes, the new version will be published with the extension and on this page.
