CantRead — Reading Highlighter by Oldmerrcy
For brains that bounce off walls of text. CantRead highlights the structure of any web page or email — nouns bold, verbs highlighted, adjectives green, numbers orange — so you can scan first and read when ready. Runs entirely on your device.

About this extension
Some days a long email or newsletter feels like a wall. CantRead turns it into something your eyes can grab onto — like syntax highlighting, but for natural language.
HOW IT WORKS
- Nouns → bold (what it's about)
- Verbs → yellow highlight (what happened)
- Adjectives & adverbs → green italic (the details)
- Numbers & dates → orange
FEATURES
- Click the toolbar icon to highlight the current page; click "Show original" to undo
- Turn individual layers on or off if a page feels too busy — your choice is remembered
- Keyboard shortcut: Alt+Shift+H (⌥⇧H on Mac)
- Select text → right-click → highlight just that part
- Works with English and Chinese (English is more accurate; Chinese is improving)
- Links, images and page layout are left untouched
PRIVACY
Everything runs locally on your device. CantRead makes no network requests and collects no data. The only thing it stores is your layer preferences, in your browser.
Made by someone ADHD, for anyone who finds dense text hard to start. Open source (MIT): https://github.com/oldmercy/CantRead
