Chat Commander — Privacy Notice
20 October 2026
Data and destinations
Chat Commander connects your selected personal ChatGPT tab to your private OpenAI Secure MCP Tunnel. Requested conversation titles, links, message excerpts, project metadata and operation results are sent to OpenAI so ChatGPT can respond. Messages may contain personal information. Authentication credentials are sent only to the corresponding OpenAI or ChatGPT service to authorize requests.
Local storage
The tunnel runtime key is held in browser session storage while unlocked. You may optionally save a password-encrypted copy on this device. The password is not saved. A hashed account identifier restricts automatic reconnection to the paired account. Configuration and preferences remain in local browser storage without sync.
Conversation contents are processed temporarily, without a persistent conversation database or chat cache. Review plans exist in worker memory, expire after 30 minutes and may be invalidated by reconnection or restart.
Control
Lock stops the tunnel and clears unlocked credentials and pending reviews. Disconnect and forget also removes the saved encrypted key and account binding. These actions do not revoke keys at OpenAI or remove data already sent to OpenAI. You can revoke browser permissions or uninstall the extension.
There is no analytics, advertising, sale of data or developer-operated data server. OpenAI processes requests under its own applicable terms and privacy practices. This notice does not promise erasure or define OpenAI’s retention periods.
Keep the tunnel private to its owner. Do not include credentials, cookies, HAR files or private conversations in support requests.
