- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 15109409, 6 years agoIts the best set and forget URL cleaner out of the top 5 or 6 or so I have tested! 130+ patterns and counting, giving it wide coverage, on top of that, though not based on global algorithms, its patterns offer SOME fail safe functionality similar to "Skip Redirect!". Only thing I would ask for is a setting to disable ad blocking. Not a huge issue but Adblocking dirties the log and stats with redundant information... most users using this extension will already use an adblocker. Best URL Cleaner, IMO!
[update: I have found this addon does block some domains on amazon for example that ublock does not... increasing user privacy] - Rated 5 out of 5by tmk333, 6 years ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13371234, 6 years agoI was previously using a different addon, Neat URL. I disabled that one so I could give ClearURLs a proper try. However, I realized that every time I restart Firefox, ClearURLs gets disabled, and Neat URL is re-enabled. Suspecting some sort of misbehavior from Neat URL, I fully removed Neat URL. However, even after that, ClearURLs is still showing as disabled in my addons list every time I restart Firefox. What's going on? I've never seen this behavior with any other addon.
EDIT: I figured out what was going on. Back when Mozilla had the certificate debacle that resulted in addons getting disabled en masse for everyone, I made my extensions.json file read-only as an attempt to keep my addons forcibly enabled. After the official fixes from Mozilla, I forgot to uncheck "read-only" from extensions.json. ClearURLs was the first new addon I've tried since that time. Anyway, when I tried to disable all my addons as a test, they came up as re-enabled when I restarted Firefox. That's when I finally suspected my extensions.json. So, I realized that was still read-only. Fixing that, now everything is working as expected. I'll update my ClearURLs rating to 5-stars. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 12836761, 6 years agoA well written, good looking, easy to use, add-on.
On checking the log, having used ClearURLs for some time, it was great to see how it was busily removing tracking info from so many links.
Thanks to author from a happy user in Scotland! - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 12303473, 6 years ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by X C, 6 years agoI have encountered an odd problem with my browser that it loses connection every time I play an embedded media (e.g. YouTube) on a webpage. After scanning my computer and testing my addons one by one, I have found that the problem only exists when this addon is enabled. I have used this addon for quite some time and it is a recent problem.
Edit: I haven't been able to reproduce this issue since updating to the latest version today so I'm giving this addon 5 stars instead. It has been really helpful in keeping the URLs clean.Developer response
posted 6 years agoCan you please describe your problem in more details. The best way to do this is to open an issue at the gitlab page of ClearURLs or email me to clearurls_1@kevinroebert.de and please add the log to your report. - Rated 5 out of 5by sastanin, 6 years ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Ninja, 6 years agoExcellent addon for those who value privacy. It has a box to batch clean a collection of dirty links, context menu to copy clean link. It would be the best if it offers custom rules in future. You can always report it to the developer. He responds timely and efficiently.

posted 6 years agoHi could you tell me the reason, why you go from a 5 star review to a 3 star review after 10 hours, without updates or any reasons?

- Rated 5 out of 5by Ed , 7 years agoKevin, I have run into another issue with ClearURLs. It seems to block the map on the left side of the property search result on zillow.com. This occurs when looking at a saved map search or a new map search. Could you please check this?
Maybe you could consider a way to allow the user to whitelist certain sites when issues like this crop up.Developer response
