by Firefox user 15249633, 5 years agoDoesn't seem to be a way to set the default to be other than "keep all cookies permanently" so you have to blacklist each each site individually. I want to auto blacklist all sites so their cookies are deleted on shutdown and whitelist the small set of sites I like. So just too much trouble to be of much use to have to manually change the cookie settings for every site I visit.

If you install the extension after having used the browser previously, the currently saved cookies will be saved as permanent for that site. But you can go through the Manager and delete those that are not needed or set them as temporary.
This is an amazing add-on that I highly recommend, it does everything I need and hopefully it keeps working fine like this for many more years. - Rated 3 out of 5by Clemens Ratte-Polle, 5 years ago2020.02
CookiErazor:
Add option to make default behaviour selectable.
I want all sites keeping their cookies only until restart and not permanently.

CookiErazor:
Missing Options:
- Block cookies of this site always.
- Clear all Cookies ONLY from this site now. - Rated 5 out of 5by RedaP, 7 years agoAs a replacement for Cookie Monster, CookiErazor does as much as it can under the stricter rules of Firefox 57 ("Quantum"). One big difference for Cookie Monster users is that the default Firefox preference has to be set to allow all cookies. Then CookiErazor preferences are set to erase cookies when the tab closes or Firefox quits. (In other words, you can no longer have the default set to refuse all cookies and make exceptions via Cookie Monster, so if you want to keep cookies for some sites you have to accept them for all.) And of course, for a specific site you can set it to keep the cookies. The icons could be better, like the optional set in later versions of Cookie Monster: eg, a red circle if the Firefox default is to refuse cookies, a yellow circle if CookiErazor is set to erase after closing tab or program, a green circle if CookiErazor is set to keep the site's cookies.

Developer response
posted 7 years agoFrankly, the main similarity with CookieMonster are the icons I use. But the features are sufficient for my use. Cookie mess gets reduced, privacy increased.
Because Firefox is switching to Webextensions, it's impossible to create an addon exactly like CookieMonster, which works with Firefox 57 and later.
For instance Webextensions do not have access to internal Firefox permissions, which you can change through the icons on the left side of the URL bar. CookieMonster was able to access these settings, because it is a legacy addon.
It's currently also not possible to block all cookies through Webextensions. It's only possible to delete them right after they have been set.
If you think this addon lacks some features, you may want to try the addon "Cookie AutoDelete", which has a lot more features than this addon and will also work with future versions of Firefox.
