by LT Smash, 5 years agoWorked just fine for a couple months, then Firefox quarantined it (when it was still named Dark Mode and wasn't recommended yet), this message appears below the disabled and locked out "Dark Mode" :
Dark Theme (Malware) has been blocked for your protection.
Why was it blocked?
This add-on violates Mozilla's ad-don policies by using obfuscated code.
What does this mean?
The problematic add-on or plugin will be automatically disabled and no longer usable.
When Mozilla becomes aware of add-ons, plugins, or other third-party software that seriously compromises Firefox security, stability, or performance and meets certain criteria, the software may be blocked from general use. For more information, please read this support article.

Now I'm using the slightly inferior Dark Night Mode add-on, because I can't stand all that LED light at night, especially that harmful blue wave we experience that seriously messes with the circadian rhythm/sleep cycle (like those new LED streetlights, im glad my city still mostly just has the orange sodium lights and hope the newfound harmful health effects slow down the deployment of that even worse light pollution).
Mr. Shutau, can I trust your new "Dark Reader" or will it attempt to inject malicious code sometime in the future? I really liked your "Dark Mode", but using Debian Linux, I was surprised to see the word Malware in my add-ons when I went to the Add-Ons menu when I noticed the extension stopped working and the icon disappeared from my toolbar.
If an explanation of what happened here can be obtained, I'd love to see it...

- Rated 4 out of 5by JustinMe, 6 days agoEasy to install and use.
Sometimes I felt on some websites - the dark mode appeared to dark so I knocked a Star off - otherwise a great addition. - Rated 5 out of 5by yippee, 7 days ago

EDIT: Turns out FireFox was in software rendering mode. Restarting it fixed the issue :P - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18697323, 10 days ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Private Citizen, 11 days agoNo one else finds it ironic that Mozilla tagged this extension as Recommended and yet they don't offer a dark mode for their own ADD-ONS website?

- Rated 5 out of 5by Gordon, 13 days agoAfter seeing the amount of brain dead one star reviews for this extension it needs to be said that whenever this extension is causing your browser to run slow its either one of three things that its actually the fault of the extension with badly optimised code, a website itself has change technologies or its the browser itself. Recently it has been the last two so anybody who has written those reviews without for example, not considering maybe the extension runs fine on another browser you are NOT being open minded.
Furthermore a lot of people are now thinking you have to pay to use this extension now that they are asking for donations, the fact of the matter is a lot of people are not bothering to realise that it says "PAY FOR USING" not "PAY TO USE", talk about dyslexia. - Rated 4 out of 5by DODO, 14 days ago

- Rated 2 out of 5by Just A. Guy, 15 days agoWorks great in Chrome, but is very problematic in Firefox. Works only partially on a many sites, requiring the extension to be turned off and back on for settings to take effect. On many sites, this has to be done on every page.
