by LT Smash, 5 years agoWorked just fine for a couple months, then Firefox quarantined it (when it was still named Dark Mode and wasn't recommended yet), this message appears below the disabled and locked out "Dark Mode" :
Dark Theme (Malware) has been blocked for your protection.
Why was it blocked?
This add-on violates Mozilla's ad-don policies by using obfuscated code.
What does this mean?
The problematic add-on or plugin will be automatically disabled and no longer usable.
When Mozilla becomes aware of add-ons, plugins, or other third-party software that seriously compromises Firefox security, stability, or performance and meets certain criteria, the software may be blocked from general use. For more information, please read this support article.

Now I'm using the slightly inferior Dark Night Mode add-on, because I can't stand all that LED light at night, especially that harmful blue wave we experience that seriously messes with the circadian rhythm/sleep cycle (like those new LED streetlights, im glad my city still mostly just has the orange sodium lights and hope the newfound harmful health effects slow down the deployment of that even worse light pollution).
Mr. Shutau, can I trust your new "Dark Reader" or will it attempt to inject malicious code sometime in the future? I really liked your "Dark Mode", but using Debian Linux, I was surprised to see the word Malware in my add-ons when I went to the Add-Ons menu when I noticed the extension stopped working and the icon disappeared from my toolbar.
If an explanation of what happened here can be obtained, I'd love to see it...

- Rated 1 out of 5by GP2, 7 hours agoThis extension breaks usability on more sites than it helps with. Form elements like checkboxes will become unreadable, entire sections of the site that you'd normally see will not be visible, etc.

- Rated 3 out of 5by Euph0ria, 4 days agoI installed it, hoping it would make the addons.mozilla.org site dark so I can read without having to squint at the screen that is too bright, but it won't put the site into a dark mode. Can this be fixed somehow?

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18762477, 12 days agoMakes a few sites unreadable, and some have ugly colour schemes, but I can't really blame them. Besides, you can just turn it off in that case.
- Rated 5 out of 5by Guy, 13 days agoGreat extension. Flips colors naturally while keeping all items as visible as they are in the site's original (non-dark) layout. Very simple to use and highly customizable: You can easily fine tune the darkness intensity. For instance, if you prefer a dark grey theme over a completely black one, it can be easily adjusted. Highly recommended!

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13515039, 14 days agoThe FF version works better than I had expected. It's darkifying many of my favorite websites in manner that looks like the site had its own dark mode. So easy to switch on and off too.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 19141042, 14 days agoIt does what it should, and is customizable to either dark or light mode, or reverse certain sites, or exclude them, or only run on specific sites, but the interface is shit and confusing to set up.
