    Version 1.6.8

    Released Sep 30, 2026 - 735.25 KB
Works with firefox 109.0 and later
    Changelog (Version 1.6.8):
    - Native Language (L1 -> L2) Lookup Support: Searching in your native language (e.g. Turkish -> English) now displays translated English meanings with part-of-speech badges, example sentences, and text-to-speech audio buttons.
    - Interactive Drill-Down: Clicking any translated English word instantly switches the dictionary direction to English (L2 mode), showing definitions, usage, and notebook saving options.
    - Smart Direction Fallback: Automatically searches the alternate language direction if a query in the active direction yields no results.
    - UI & Theme Compatibility: Added responsive styles and full support for both light and dark modes for native lookup results.

    Version 1.6.7

    Released Sep 26, 2026 - 733.89 KB
Works with firefox 109.0 and later
    • Reset button is now disabled while a word search, phrase translation or "extract words" request is running, and re-enabled when it finishes.
    • Added a Reset button to the "Extract words to look up" screen (right-click menu) so the sentence, extracted words and results can be cleared.
    • Turkish pronunciation is shown next to the IPA in the word header (bold, slightly larger) for users whose native language is Turkish.
    • Word results are split into Meaning and Usage tabs. The new Usage tab brings the web app's sources into the extension: Collocations, examples from your phrase notebook and examples from Dejavu's dialogues (with a "Go to dialogue" link that opens the web app). Each source loads on demand.
    • Larger font for the phrase translation (14px) and for the dictionary entries (definitions, example sentences and translations, 13.5px).
    • Dictionary meanings now use the same colour scheme as the Collocations list (indigo definitions, "Example" label, red example sentences, indigo translations) in light and dark mode.
    • The Reset button in the Phrase panel now shows a "Reset" caption with proper vertical padding, and the phrase input box is taller (4 lines instead of 2).

  • Version 1.6.6

    Released Sep 24, 2026 - 729.68 KB
Works with firefox 109.0 and later
    Version 1.6.6
    • Added a Reset button (trash icon) next to the search / "Translate & save"
button in both the Word and Phrase panels, so you can clear the panel
(text, result, status) with a single click.
    • Removed the duplicate Reset button that used to sit above the result card
in the Phrase panel; there is now only one Reset button per panel.

  • Version 1.6.5

    Released Sep 18, 2026 - 729.36 KB
Works with firefox 109.0 and later
    Version 1.6.5
    • Fixed a bug where translating/saving a selected phrase from the right-click
menu ("Translate & save to phrase notebook") hid the text being translated,
the result, the "Similar phrases" list and the "Reset" card. They now stay
visible; only the redundant manual "Search" label and "Translate & save"
button are hidden, matching the word panel's behavior.

  • Version 1.6.4

    Released Sep 18, 2026 - 729.22 KB
Works with firefox 109.0 and later
    • Popup remembers your last screen: reopening the popup from the toolbar icon
now restores the tab (Page/Dictionary), dictionary mode (Word/Phrase), and
your last search or phrase instead of resetting. This restore only re-runs
the same lookup (never a cached HTML snapshot), so all buttons keep working
correctly. State is only reset when you use "Extract words to look up" or
"Translate & save to phrase notebook" from a page selection, as intended.
    • Smarter double-click lookup (lemmatization): double-clicking a word on a
page now looks up its dictionary base form using a WordNet-based lemmatizer,
e.g. "books" -> "book", "rests" -> "rest", including irregular forms like
"goes" -> "go" and "children" -> "child". A verified exception list prevents
incorrect stripping of words such as "boss", "pass", "species", "physics",
or "news". This only affects double-click page lookups, not manual searches.
    • Added a "Sign Up" button under "Sign In" on the login screen, linking to
https://dejavuenglish.com/register for users without an account yet.

  • Version 1.6.3

    Released Sep 7, 2026 - 163.31 KB
Works with firefox 109.0 and later
    • Restored "Extract words to look up": sentence and word-search boxes are visible again; only the relevant buttons disable during extraction and re-enable afterward.
    • Strengthened visual separation between search and results in Word/Phrase panels with amber "Search"/"Results" labels plus clearer borders/shadows (readable in dark mode too).
    • In the extract-focus mode, direction radio buttons and the "Search" label are hidden; the sentence box becomes read-only with its action buttons hidden.
    • Dark mode now highlights the "Which words below do you want to look up?" box with a distinct indigo color.
    • Added a subtle auto-scroll to the result area after any search (word, sentence extraction, or phrase).

    Released Aug 30, 2026 - 162.33 KB
Works with firefox 109.0 and later

    • Fixed dark-mode styling for the English-to-English definition area (it no longer appears with a light/white background).

  • Version 1.6.1

    • Added a manual popup dark/light theme toggle (sun/moon), independent from system theme.
    • Saved the user’s theme preference and restored it automatically on next popup open.
    • Improved popup UI clarity by separating search/input areas from result/output areas in Word and Phrase sections.
    • Fixed HTML entity decoding in phrase translations so multilingual characters render correctly.

  • Version 1.6.0

    Released Aug 27, 2026 - 115.63 KB
Works with firefox 109.0 and later
Fixed: double-clicking a word on a page did nothing until you had used the right-click menu on that page first. Double-click lookup now works as soon as you turn it on.

Site access is now opt-in. Installing no longer asks for access to all websites. Dejavu asks for it only when you enable double-click lookup, and you can revoke it at any time.

New: a "Go to Dejavu Web App" and a "How to use" link in the popup; the how-to page also opens once after installing.

Improved: shorter right-click menu ("Dejavu English"); the search direction now shows your real languages (e.g. "Eng -> Tur") instead of "My native language"; "Save to notebook" sits at the top of the result and stays visible while you scroll; if you type the sentence a word appears in, you now also get the meaning for that context, a translation of the sentence and text-to-speech for it.

  • Version 1.5.0

    Released Aug 26, 2026 - 106.48 KB
Works with firefox 109.0 and later
    New in 1.5.0
    • Double-click any word on any web page and the dictionary opens with that word
already looked up. Can be turned off in the popup.
    • New right-click options on selected text: translate & save to your phrase
notebook, or extract the words worth looking up.
    • Word lookup now accepts the sentence the word came from, so the meaning fits
the context — and the sentence is saved together with the word.
    • The extension is now called Dejavu English Dictionary & Reader: two-way
dictionary between English and 12 languages.
    • New brand logo in the popup and a lighter loading animation.

  • Version 1.4.0

    Released Jul 17, 2026 - 97.35 KB
Works with firefox 109.0 and later
    v1.4.0
    - Multi-browser sessions: you can now stay signed in on multiple browsers (e.g. Chrome + Firefox) at the same time. Signing in on one browser no longer signs you out of the others.
    - Focused Reading: once a sentence is translated, the "Translate sentence" button locks (✓) to avoid re-translating the same sentence.
    - Dictionary: added a copy button to each similar phrase (copies the English phrase).
    - New, refined loading animation (a magnifier gliding over a notebook), light/dark friendly.
