- Rated 5 out of 5by axemetaphor, 2 years agoHiii, I love this add-on, it's the best one for Dark Mode in google docs that exists, but I'm writing this to let you know that in the newest version (as of writing, 0.6.1), there's a glitch where the top bar of the document (where the title and dropdowns such as File, Edit, View, etc are) does not go dark like the rest of the page. I have a screenshot of this glitch but can't seem to attach it, if you'd like to take a look at it. I've tried closing and reopening the doc, turning the extension off and on again, and even uninstalling/reinstalling it, and it persists. 5 stars otherwise, since I'm sure this will be fixed soon, and it's not like it inhibits my writing, it's just a little distracting.

posted 2 years agoThank you for leaving a positive review and sharing your feedback—I would love to help resolve this issue. Please feel free to open an issue on GitHub or email issues@waymondrang.com with the screenshot and any additional details. - Rated 5 out of 5by DukeDoozy, 2 years agoAfter starting to use this add-on, I realized it was the best dark mode for docs bar none. When a recent update damaged its usefulness, the developer quickly fixed it, even though they are just a student as per their website. That level of care and dedication to what may seem like a small feature (but is in no way small for me, it has increased my productivity by leaps and bounds) motivated me to finally leave a review for this fantastic add-on.

They also responded to two other people who had a similar issue. Excellent dev response, and a great addon with many options that now works again.

Edit: Thanks for the response! The update seems to have fixed the issue, and this is back to being one of the most useful add-ons in the entire catalogue.Developer response

Upon updating, if you are still unable to change the page colour, please contact issues@waymondrang.com. - Rated 4 out of 5by Knight Hallow, 2 years agoI've been loving this so far, but recently the "Invert" option changed so now every time I try to invert the text it just changes the entire page to white :(
Thank you so much for this add-on, it's amazing and has saved me so much headache!Developer response
posted 2 years agoThank you for your feedback. This issue may be a side effect of another issue surrounding the document color, which has been fixed in DocsAfterDark v0.6.1. Upon updating, if the invert option still does not work as expected, please contact issues@waymondrang.com. - Rated 4 out of 5by Coolshows101, 2 years agoIt used to be really good. Now google changed their to bar and it appears white. Hopefully this can be changed soon.

You''re literally amazing for this extension and it works beautifully - Rated 5 out of 5by Elliot, 2 years ago
- Rated 4 out of 5by Malygris, 2 years agoEasy to use and works like a charm. Only thing it's missing is a way to easily adjust text colours, but that's built into Google Docs anyway so not really an issue. Ridiculous that Gdocs doesn't offer a dark mode natively but as long as that's the case, this plugin fills the gap nicely.

- Rated 1 out of 5by jr, 2 years agoSimply does not function. Has full permissions for docs.google.com, yet the addon says "Can't read and change data for this site". No changes happen regardless of what darkness setting I use. Other addons work fine.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Voidling, 2 years agoIDK if this is possible, but, I wish it would also darken the homepage for google docs, but otherwise this add on is so far amazing, after dealing with the burning brightness of light mode, I feel like my eyeballs are cured.

posted 2 years agoThank you for your positive review! Although not currently being developed, dark mode for the Google Docs homepage is a long-term goal. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17728999, 2 years ago

- Rated 3 out of 5by Graysongdl, 2 years agoOnly works on Google Docs "documents". While one would assume a dark mode extension for Google Docs would work for ALL services under the Google Docs umbrella, or at the very least Google Docs spreadsheets, it only works strictly with its namesake, which to me would be like adding a dark mode for YouTube videos, but thrusting the user back into light mode as soon as they view a YouTube livestream vod. Its description isn't incorrect, but it is just a bit misleading when I can still be on "docs.google.com" and not have a dark theme.
Doesn't even affect the colors on the main screen (where it lists your documents for you to choose which one to view), making it really jarring to switch between light and dark repeatedly.
I'm also surprised it doesn't have the ability to invert black text (to make it white) without also inverting all other colors. Works fine for grayscale colors, but when it also HAS to turn red text cyan, it makes it hard to view documents formatted by/for people who don't use this extension. The only fix for this is to turn ALL text grayscale, which might be fine for people who don't mess around with formatting very much, but not for me.
All in all, technically does what it advertises decently enough, but is lacking in features. I suppose I'll keep it installed just to darken the bar at the top if I can't find a better solution. - Rated 5 out of 5by Cameron, 2 years ago
