Don't Close Last Tab by Philipp Kewisch

by Vince Aggrippino, 5 years agoThis doesn't really do anything. It doesn't even have an icon in the toolbar or "More tools...". Thanks to the user who mentioned about:config browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab in their review, I don't even need an extension for this.

- Rated 5 out of 5by yked, 7 months agoIt doesn't work, but you configure it in settings now. Open about:config and look for closeWindowWithLastTab

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14998995, 6 years agoPiece of crap. Closing last tab STILL closes browser. WTF! Where is "Last Tab Close Button" extension?? It worked perfectly until sh*thole latest FF upgrade.
- Rated 3 out of 5by oggerbolt, 6 years agoIt does what the description says.
However, it is too quick in closing empty tabs. In the situation when several (or even really many) URLs are opened at once, FF cannot load them all immediately, so all but a few stay empty until their pages are loaded. DCLT closes these empty tabs too quick, so all but some of the URLs are not loaded.
Developer: please add a check for empty tabs: if there are pending pages/URLs to be loaded they should stay open.
Dirty workaround: add a (user-definable!) waiting time before empty tabs are closed. - Rated 1 out of 5by PuppetVaysa, 6 years ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by Andrew Sprouse, 6 years agoThis extension does not do what its title says. It does not prevent closing of Firefox when the last tab is closed. In the description, it does say that it will prevent Firefox from closing if there are pinned tabs, but that is useless for me, at least.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 14154486, 6 years agoThere was an addon with exactly the same name (in Russian). So I decided that this is either a new version or a fake. That addon worked as follows - when the last tab was closed, the browser was not closed, but an empty tab was opened. Your add-on when closing the last tab does not allow the browser to not close.
Developer response
posted 6 years agoI'm sorry to hear this add-on does not provide the features you are looking for. What the add-on does is described fairly complete in the summary. The name of the add-on is very generic, so I am not surprised there are other add-ons that do something similar but have a different feature set.
I will check if it is possible to add the feature you mention, if it is possible with the WebExtensions API that would be a great addition.
Thanks for the suggestion!
