Why
When i started this project i couldn't find any add-on that allow dragging links, so i had to do it myself, my first add-on for Firefox.
One day a reviewer mentioned Glitter Drag, so i tested it, and i saw it was really well made, with a lot of customization options and much more effort put into it. I didn't find it earlier because he started implementing it one month later than me, so for these reasons, i have to recommend to use Glitter Drag instead of DragLinks and avoid doing the same work twice in favor of his add-on.
I hope you understand it, and thanks all for all the support and reviews!
-----------------------------------------------------------
The problem
Opening links trying to keep the search results page, needs going back in history every time and many mouse clicks.
So to open in a new tab, clicking middle button hurts the finger and also you need another click to make it active , on the other hand, using context menu needs 2 clicks
The solution
Drag links towards down to open in active tab, drag towards up to open in background tab
Dragging selected text added in v1.1
I didn't find a way to get the list of current search engines, so i made an options page for the addon where you can set the query urls of your favorite service. I added four mouse movements to have more possibilities and the option to open it in background or not.
Known problems
There isn't a reliable way to know if a drag was made inside the content, or in the toolbars, or outside the window that works in all situations. This is due to a old "bug" reported since 8 years ago https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=505521 So if you drag outside the content of the web page for whatever reason, it will open a new tab with that link although it isn't needed.
This add-on will not work in websites that stop the propagation of drag events.
If you have any suggestions leave a comment please :)
