Privacy policy for EasyPDF: Edit, Compress, Sign PDF
EasyPDF: Edit, Compress, Sign PDF by EasyPDF
EasyPDF browser extension: privacy policy (Firefox)
The EasyPDF extension ("the extension") is published by EasyPDF, the operator of easypdf.fr. Short version: it collects no personal data, and the only file it ever touches is the PDF you choose to open with EasyPDF.
What the extension does
The extension adds a toolbar button and four right-click menu entries (Edit, Compress, Sign, Translate) on PDF links and PDF pages. When you choose one, the extension downloads that PDF with your own browser session and opens the matching easypdf.fr tool in a new tab with the file already loaded. It does not process PDF files itself and does not read the content of the pages you visit.
Data collected by the extension
The extension does not collect, store, transmit or sell any personal data. It contains no analytics, no advertising and no tracking code. The only network request it makes is the download of the PDF you pointed at, from the site that hosts it.
That PDF is kept in the extension's memory for at most five minutes, only until the easypdf.fr tool page has received it, and is never written to disk. When the download is not possible, the extension remembers the file name and the tool you chose for at most 15 minutes in session storage, so the popup can remind you to drop the file on the tool page; that value is deleted when you dismiss the reminder and in any case when you close the browser. Nothing else leaves your device.
Links to easypdf.fr
Every action of the extension opens a page of easypdf.fr, where the easypdf.fr privacy policy applies (https://www.easypdf.fr/fr/confidentialite). Files you upload are processed on EasyPDF servers over HTTPS to deliver the requested tool and deleted automatically afterwards.
The URLs opened by the extension carry campaign parameters (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign). They tell easypdf.fr that a visit came from the extension. They contain no identifier and no personal information.
Permissions
- Context menus: adds the four right-click entries on PDF links and PDF pages.
- Active tab: on your click, lets the popup see whether the current tab is a PDF and lets the extension download a PDF hosted on the current site.
- Site access, on request: when the PDF is linked from another site, Firefox asks you once whether the extension may read that site. It is used only to download that PDF and can be revoked at any time.
- easypdf.fr: a small script runs on our own website only, to hand the downloaded PDF to the tool page.
- Storage: session storage only, for the temporary reminder described above.
