About this extension
EclipseTabGuard keeps your browser responsive by automatically suspending inactive tabs to free memory, without closing them.
How it works:
Tabs that have been inactive beyond your chosen time limit are suspended in the background.
Suspended tabs stay visible in your tab bar. Click one to reload it.
The active tab is always protected. You can also choose to skip pinned tabs, audible tabs, or tabs that are still loading.
Use Suspend Now to suspend eligible tabs on demand.
Smart rules
Whitelist: Add domains that should never be suspended, such as your email, Notion, or GitHub.
Blacklist: Add domains that should be suspended at the next check, regardless of the inactivity timeout.
Configure whether pinned, audible, or still-loading tabs should be skipped.
Video timestamps (beta)
Optionally save an video’s timestamp when you pause it and try to restore it after the page reloads. Manage saved timestamps in the Videos panel. This works best with videos embedded directly on a page. Saved timestamps stay on this device and are off by default.
Settings:
Click the extension icon to configure the inactivity timeout, suspension rules, whitelist, and blacklist. Your settings sync across devices; saved video timestamps do not.
Privacy:
EclipseTabGuard does not collect or transmit your data to third parties. Its suspension logic runs on your device. If you enable video timestamps, the extension stores the page title, URL, and timestamp locally. If you enable cache warming, it makes background requests to eligible suspended-tab URLs to help those pages load faster.
