ETHICAL READ is designed to help publishers who are suffering from lost revenue due to the advent of adblockers, and also the people who don’t want to see the ads or enjoy the ad-free content.

ETHICAL READ typically identifies the websites which had subscribed to us and then opens a dialogue with the customer to sponsor the website to see the content without ads. Every time when ads are blocked, we pay the website, that amount of money which the website would have gained if the user had not installed adblocker; which accounts to something less than a cent. For proper functioning of this feature, we take the following data from the user end. ETHICAL READ will use this data exclusively for understanding the statistics and also to identify the settlement amount that has to be paid to the websites. We strictly follow GDPR regulations for collecting and maintenance of the data. Our data collection and use of the data is as follows

Which data is collected by the plug-in?

The IP address, country of the user
Browser id of the user
Login credentials of the user
URL of the website that triggers the plug-in(those websites which had tied up with the ETHICAL READ)

why do we collect this data?

ETHICAL READ settlement algorithm may need the IP address of the user and form which country the user is visiting that particular website, as the country from which the user is visiting the website also affects the payment that we do for the website.

For instance, a website is showing 3 ads, in 3 ad-showing containers. If the site is viewed in India, the ad-containers are shown with Indian ads, then the publisher may get lesser amount for showing those ads, if the same ad-containers are shown in United States with ads from that locale, then the publisher may get paid more for that ad; hence ip-address will form the basis for the ETHICAL READ to settle to the website.

We will also use this data for statistical analytics of the website; this statistical data is strictly shown only to the website owners, which contains "purely statistical information about their domains".

Browser id’s, URL’s are used to identify if a user had visited that particular URL, uniquely or not. i.e., if a user visited a website, (which had already tied up with ETHICAL READ), for one time then we deduct one credit from that user’s account, if the same user had visited the website more than one time within a span of 24 hours, we don’t deduct any credits of that user for that particular URL, this would help us in preventing overcharging of the users.
