... the expanded version could sit on the New Addon Bar (like the old Forecast Fox did) where it wouldn't block the text in the bottom part of the screen. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/new-add-on-bar/

New Add-on Bar - it is XUL-technology
New Add-on Bar - will die in November like all other xul-addons
