In researching the issue, I discovered that the developer, Alexander (Oleksandr) Popov lives in Kyiv. In March of 2022, he posted a response to a Google conversations regarding Forecastfox that due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he's no longer able to lead the development of his addons.

I'm creator. I'm from Ukraine, Kyiv. Not Russia!!!!!
I can not now lead the development of extension, because there is a war in my country.
Sorry!"
This probably explains why this addon isn't working anymore. Some recent changes in the the URL's for the weather services his addon links to are the likely reason for the disruption. And this assumes he's still alive.
Personally, I'll look for an alternative for a while, but I won't uninstall it. I wish him and his fellow countrymen and women well.Developer response
posted 8 years agodo not worry, I'll come up with a workaround and will return Forecastfox previous form :-) - Rated 5 out of 5by wolfblake, 8 years agoI really like the new version. I can see any cloud cover and the temperature right away. Also, the five day forecast, radar, precipitation, and what it feels like are all just one click away!
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 4391148, 8 years agoSadly, the new version lost the ability to display multiple days at once on a bar, but this was bound to happen after switching to Mozilla's WebExtensions.
All the information is available in just one click anyway, it's just a new habit to take.
This is still one of the best -- if not the best -- weather add-on for Firefox.
And the city search is working again. :) - Rated 5 out of 5by -hyperion-, 8 years agoЗачем убрали из статусной строки данное расширение? Было так удобно отслеживать погоду. Верните прежний вид расширения в статусную строку
Why remove this extension from the status line? It was so convenient to track the weather. Return the previous form of the extension to the status lineDeveloper response

If I have to give up on Firefox I will, but not before every useful addon like forecastfox is completely broken.
- Rated 5 out of 5by Makronti, 8 years agoStill a great add-on! In new version -as many others- I miss the multiple days view. But I understand that Firefox will not be the same after v57. And as some other add-ons I have (i.e. Wired-Marker), all will change to follow the new API of Firefox. The Forecastfox as well.
I have to learn a new habit, to click on the Forecastfox button. Then everything is better than before. - Rated 5 out of 5by Oleg, 8 years agoI use The Addon Bar:
https://addons.mozilla.org/ru/firefox/addon/the-addon-bar/
So it's possible to keep the previous status view. Pls return this option!Developer response
