FramedShot for Firefox — Privacy Policy
FramedShot processes screenshots and recordings locally in your browser to provide capture, editing, trimming, and export. FramedShot does not sell user data and never sends screenshot or recording content to any server.
- Data processed locally
- Visible-tab screenshot image data, captured only when you trigger FramedShot.
- Video of the window or screen you choose in Firefox's sharing picker, recorded only after you click "Choose what to record". Firefox recordings contain no audio.
- Optional area-selection coordinates when you use area capture.
- Your preferences (colors, padding, shadow, format, export settings) and local UI state.
These stay in Firefox extension storage and IndexedDB on your device. Exporting or discarding a recording removes it from FramedShot's local storage. Uninstalling removes extension data according to Firefox behavior. No remote code is executed. - Anonymous usage statistics (optional, off unless you allow it)
If you allow "technical and interaction data" when installing (or later in about:addons), FramedShot sends anonymous usage events, such as which features are used, together with a random install identifier, to framed-shot.com, which forwards them to Google Analytics. They never include screenshot or recording content, page URLs or text, filenames, browsing history, or personal information. Your IP address is used only in memory to rate-limit requests and is not stored by FramedShot. If you don't allow it, nothing is sent. - Supporter Badge email (optional)
If you submit your email in the Supporter Badge form and accept Firefox's permission prompt, your email address and the submission time are sent to framed-shot.com and stored in a MongoDB database to send your badge and occasional product updates. To be removed, email andrei.projects@proton.me with the subject "Remove my email". - Feature requests (optional)
If you send a feature request and accept Firefox's permission prompt, your message and your email address are sent to framed-shot.com and stored so we can read and answer it. - Sharing
FramedShot does not sell, rent, or share user data with third parties, apart from the anonymous usage events in section 2 when you allow them. - Permissions
- activeTab: capture the current tab only after you click FramedShot or use its shortcut.
- scripting: inject a temporary local overlay for area selection and quick copy.
- storage: save preferences and temporary editor state locally.
- clipboardWrite (optional): copy images when you enable Quick copy.
