Dangerous addon changes ur ip w/out warning indicating it is infiltrated with hackers or it's just a bad program. If you delete it using taskmanager it will not revert back to your native networkd settings and you will not be able to surf. If you make changes to your browser addons it will make your isp block any connections to it. Good idea too back they can't make it work right.
11-3-2022: Pleasantly surprised that this outfit has VERY GOOD customer support. Answered my email immediatley with detailed answer.
Watch for dns leaks and test for them. Will change to ip you didn't ask for if other ips are filled up, so watch for this. Working on getting firewall settings for this addon, cuz I hate having to disable my fw to use it.
You cannot connect if firewall is active. Still no way to change port number assigned. Have not experienced any OBVIOUS hacks using this. It is the only free way to get into many websites that other "free" vpns cannot touch. I might actually pay for it if they can resolve the firewall and change of ip thing, but probably they cannot. Updated to 3 stars
Disables windows firewall allowing your system to be hacked. Dangerous add-on, not safe. Very unstable cannot keep connections due to hackers. Man in the middle attacks. Surely there is someone out there that can offer something better than this. Rarely use it anymore. - Rated 3 out of 5by USER-EXPERIENCEONLY, 4 years ago5-9-25: Tuxler was not blocking my IP It was the crap
ISP Globe Philippines. When I changed home IPs connected immediately. Required a reset of the wifi modem. Tuxler support is top notch They ALWAYS answer their emails promptly-very unusual for ANY internet company. I don't have bitcoin but if I did I would pay for Tuxler. I want to attempt to keep my anonymity online. I
must try to get anon bitcoin.
Also I only use addons-no installed vpn software. Ways tuxler can improve? extend the 10 ip limit to 15 at least. More USA ips. Limit forced IP changes to blocked countries such as ACCRA Africa etc.
1-29-24: Do not download their program for "browser helper". Use ONLY the stand alone program that does NOT integrate with browsers. Their download program is VERY intrusive and requires removal from windows add/remove and I have had it come back w/out my knowledge which could be a real security risk. Their tech support is top notch and answers inquiries quickly. Their feed is SLOWWW changes IPS w/out your approval or knowledge until you check, so you could be surfing from Lagos Nigeria when you least expect it. US server almost non-existent Not every site is fooled and some will block you but most will not. Does not work with Craigslist, and CL sucks anyways.
11-7-23: Good support. Answers emails and actually reads yours. Do not install the browser helper-installs a program that you must use windows to uninstall as it loads w/out your permission and does so even if blocked by firewall. Must be removed by windows remove pgm-very intrusive. Free tuxler is ok but some sites recognize it and block it, such as google, so they are detecting you're using a proxy even if you disable webrtc and block it. Too few free ip changes leaving you with Pakistan when you want USA.
9-2022: It would be nice if some company could come up with a similar vpn that actually works WITHOUT it d/connecting to some place in africa w/out your knowledge. Sure tell everyone you're in Africa when you selected NYC? hhahahahahah what a joke. Pay for this bs? Not me.
6-2022: Flakey to the max. On redeeming quality is it gets you through. Hacked extension will send you to Africa IP without any warning.
Cannot be used with firewall, requires all your defenses be down to use it.
But, as I said it does get u thru.
1-10-22: Noticeable improvement. They need to offer a way to select cities for free users. Some sites are blocking you because they keep changing your ip, often without your input. Slow to connect, often have to make several attempts.
11-10-21: this review applies to the stand alone tuxler program.I would never use it as an addon to FOX as it is a dangerous program, increeasing your rise of hackers since you must disable your firewall to use it. Sites are now detecting this addon and blocking connections to their site as a result. It is not longer a free ticket to proxy banning websites, but instead puts you on a block this connection list and you will get cannot connect error message, regardless of which country/proxy you select under tuxler. I another words for these sites it is useless. If you don't have a REAL residental proxy you will not be able to connect with tuxler and they might even delete your account. Also frequent problems slow or no loading of the program where you cannot even get a connection to anything. Junk not worth paying for.
10-3-21 New problem, connect connect to main server. As if THEIR/ISP firewall is blocking connection. Requires changing ISPs or mac address to get in. Either blocked or extremely slow to connect. Still problems with initial given IP (residential) working-have to change it usually first page load. It's dangerous to have to disable your firewall to use this program, open invitation to be seriously hacked. Also quite slow, sometimes unuseably slow They have a new competitor but for chrome only and it's not any good. This is the only vpn that does what it does, even if incredibly badly, haha. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 16676119, 4 years ago

- Rated 1 out of 5by dastraightdope, 5 years agoSites that don't want you are being actively blocked by either Tuxler or third parties using Tuxler. So the advantages of "residential" vpns quickly disappear. Very slow, frequent disconnects and changes in IP that you did not select. No privacy policy-ur data (and probably ur a** belongs to them so don't use it for anything important. I will say this. It is free, but that's not saying much. And it will get you through many sites that block proxies. But very unreliable and troublesome to use it.

"Tuxler Chrome Application"
This addon requires Tuxler Application to work.
"After installing this extension you will be directed to Application installation process." and you can't do a sh without it.
and another one: "Tuxler Chrome Application is requied to start Tuxler Plugin"....This is FIREFOX, not Chrome!
Firefox/76.0.1 == Imo it looks overrated and I suppose, that owner(s) are giving bigger stars than it actually needs.
This addon didn't work for me without that another thingy. I'm disappointed.
Check permissions and "Make sure you trust it before installing." - Rated 2 out of 5by Bryan Comino, 5 years ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14101340, 5 years agoExceedingly pleased with Tuxler Residential VPN.
I have used a residential vpn before and they are Very good. The idea of using other people's private IPs around the world is VERY effective in hiding your location and securing your privacy. Connection speeds may not be as fast as other 'professional' VPNs but with some Trial n Error experimenting you can find your optimum locations. Opting to use the 'Use Residential Locations' facility can reduce the traffic speed further but it is much MUCH more secure. - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 15861938, 5 years ago

- Rated 1 out of 5by HONESTTREVIEWW, 6 years agoAnother cr*p "vpn". Constant disconnects requiring restart. does not respond to changes in VPN location. No privacy, outs your home Ip with all the disconnects. A royal pain in the a** to use. Does install and uninstall ok though. This vpn I can only guess is constantly being hacked, due to the high number of disconnects and other problems using it. cannot change port which is an open invitation to all hackers. Do not pay for this. Besides this its slow as hell often. Cannot login often. TOS offers zero privacy protections and you are sharing your connection with strangers you do not know-that's the bargain you make with the devil. You can connect to sites that block based on use of proxy, like googlsucks, etc. Waiting for competitors to offer the same residential proxies but that know how to run their service.

- Rated 2 out of 5by HonestReviews, 6 years ago7-5-25: Compromised. As in Hacked. Will not load the IP
you selected. Changes IPs w/out warning you to some shit country like Somalia. Better have a good firewall and AV program for this addon. NEW:BLOCKS YOUR entire network without warning-you cannot connect. You must CHANGE YOUR HOME IP to get it working again. Best thing I can say for this POS addon is they have good customer support-replies quickly and tries to help. Other than that it sucks but maybe the only way you can get into sites that block VPNS for which there are many. Do not use unless you cannot avoid it.
5-17-25: hacked. changes ip w/out warning to some obscure probably blocked country.slow to load requiring multiple attempts to connect and slow to connect and use. Being blocked by more and more popular sites who see thru their residentail BS. good responsive support tho.I'm using it with a site that blocks ALL vpns. Works about 70% of the time before site finds it out and blocks it.
4-25-22: Same as b4 really. But now sends you to some african or other obscure 3rd world IP without your knowledge! Be careful with this addon. Some sites can id it and block it, so their scheme is not perfect. Takes a long time to connect. Limited to a few proxy changes before they stop your changing ips. Cannot use a firewall with this (at least the developers don't tell you how). Expect possible hacker attacks and exploits with this, although nothing serious has happened thus far. WIll get you into many sites inaccessible by other means. It's slow and requires changing proxies frequently because the one they send you too first is overcrowded or not working. Need a better user guide, I haven't found one yet.
UPDATE 1-10-22 just as bad as it has always been. Takes forever to connect. Then they limit you to just a few proxy changes even if you don't actually used the proxy for data transmission. Being picked up now by some sites as spammer IPs. They change your proxy IP without input to you. Bad privacy policy. You get what you pay for in this case a slow, unreliable proxy. You can get into many sites using this however, but it's a royal PITA to use it.
UPDATE 9-29-21
If you do a whois lookup for tuxler you get GOOGLE.com
What does that tell you? Corrupt, censoring company that invades your privacy. The latest is that Globe Wifi ISP is firewall blocking tuxler OR tuxler is selectively blocking users. Cannot connect with globe wifi portable routers. They report not connected to interernet when you clearly ARE connected and everything else works. Tuxler just keeps getting worse and worse. If they think I would ever pay for their garbage vpn, they are mistaken. Uninstall and reinstall of program does no good because it's being blocked by Globe wifi. If there was every a crap ISP it's globe. Without a doubt the worst isp in existence.
UPDATE: 6-10-21: The new user interface of Tuxler is a definite improvement, more stable , faster.
Their surfing has improved a tad, but still very unstable requiring frequent closing and reconnecting of the program to load pages. This is the biggest flaw with tuxler "VPN", cannot keep a connection that actually works. I believe the program opens windows FW and no protection from hackers. It's better than before but not by much.
update:3-27-21: Tuxler has to be the lamest VPN out there. Hackers galore fucking with your connection, dropping you, revealing your home IP and other hacker shit. Watch their servers, some are more hacked than others. Frequently stalls with frequent disconnects regardless of browser used. This vpn is good for ONE thing and ONE thing only. Getting into a site that blocks proxies. But even then it does not work universally, some sites STILL detect not a normal connection. Use at your own risk - Rated 5 out of 5by ALIASGHAR, 6 years ago
