- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 18279655, a year agoAs others mentioned, it doesn't work. Using about:config -> image.animation_mode -> set value to "none" or "once" is much more effective.

- Rated 1 out of 5by John, 4 years agoIt blocks .PNG photos. I could post a .PNG photo on my Facebook page, but not on a friend's page. It left a blank square. Took me a while to find out why. Also would not prevent a large GIF from playing that someone posted as a Facebook comment.
- Rated 1 out of 5by 12bytes, 4 years agothis is yet another glaring example of the most ill conceived, useless add-ons on AMO as well as another reason to not trust anything coming from add0ns (dot) com
rather than installing this garbage, those that don't wish to see animated GIFs should set 'image.animation_mode' to a value of 'once' in about:config - Rated 1 out of 5by Soldancer, 4 years agoIt won't block the files it promises, possibly because it won't toggle to enabled from the Firefox menu.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Anonymous user 92bq5r, 5 years agoThe setting of "image.animation_mode" in about:config controls image animation with the values of "none" (no animation), "once" (runs animation once), and "normal" (will run animation constantly).

- Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 13339649, 6 years agoIt's a bit weird that the addon needs to be enabled after installation. I mean, I installed it for its functionality. But worse than that the placeholder image have no max size which can lead to them being gigantic when they are replacing a simple animated emoticon. A very simple addon that needs some very simple fixes to be really useful.
- Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 14352874, 6 years agoThanks for this. Was about to rate it 4 stars, but then I visited Gizmodo. Damn, too bad - that kind of flicker could trigger an epileptic seizure. Otherwise works fine when new page is loaded. and icon is on (blue). If not, turn on and reload existing page. Would be nice too if gif just stopped instead of removed, and of course with a single left click;)
- Rated 4 out of 5by Andre Bell, 6 years agoConfirmed. Gizmodo animations are unaffected by this plugin. However FxiYa gif's are blocked entirely. Their excessively distracting GIF ads seem seizure-inducing. Is why I searched for a plugin like this. Fixya is the only site so far the plugin seems to work on for some reason. Other sites the plugin failed to block anything. Thanks though for the initial effort.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Qetesh, 7 years agoDoesn't do anything at all. And yes, it was enabled when I tested it.
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13979931, 7 years agoIt works well for now, does what it says. Thank you.
For those who say it doesnt work, you have to enable it first. Top right, if the Gif Blocker symbol is grey, its off. If it's blue, it's on. - Rated 1 out of 5by lee terry, 7 years agoDid not work at all on any site I tested (gifs still worked) and would rate it lower if I could.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13768953, 7 years agoinstall this plugin and go see Gizmodo's website for instance
it does not do anything - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13655638, 7 years agoI've been using this for a couple of days on several websites that have a ridiculous number of GIFs on them and I haven't seen a single one actually get blocked. This just doesn't work at all.
