About this extension
No account or login is needed to test this add-on.
To test: open any page with audio or video (e.g. a YouTube video), click the toolbar icon, and drag the slider above 100%. Volume should increase and the toolbar badge shows the percentage. The "Limiter" toggle switches a dynamics compressor on or off in the audio chain.
How it works: content.js runs in all frames, routes each <audio>/<video> element through a Web Audio GainNode (and optionally a DynamicsCompressorNode), and listens for messages from the popup. background.js only stores per-tab state in storage.session and sets the badge text.
Permissions:
- storage: remembers the per-tab boost level for the session (storage.session).
- <all_urls> host permission and content script: needed because media can be on any site and in any iframe.
The add-on does not collect, store or transmit any user data and makes no network requests. All code is plain, unminified JavaScript with no build step and no third-party libraries, so there is no separate source code to submit.
