Google Flights Hide Emissions by monkeypizza

Hide CO2 and emissions information on Google Flights. You know those completely inane and invasively useless columns for how much C02 a flight used? Those are gone now.

About this extension
I 100% support saving the earth. And obviously I believe global warming is fully real and important. I do NOT think though that companies should tolerate this iterated goody-goody two-shoes race of who can ruin more of their own products by overloading them with socially bragging messages about how WE are the good guys unlike SOME people.

In fact we see nothing but this - sites and cities focusing on public displays of goodness (banning plastic bags, recycling, etc.) even while ignoring ICE vehicle pollution dumped into their air willy-nilly, illegally large cars driving around with no enforcement of pedestrian safety regulations. We just get distracted by these shows of goodness. So yeah, you have the right to do what you want, see what you want and not see what you don't want to. I got pissed off at this useless column trashing up my monitor so I made this extension to get rid of it. And I'd do it again, and more so, and better.

At a deeper level, people like to live a life of mantras, discipline, constant awareness of issues; and they mistakenly think that there's a relationship between how much effort and conscious thought they put into something, and how well the issue gets solved. In reality, a thousand years of "caring deeply" about people with some physical problem, or a social problem, basically, did nothing or worse than nothing in many cases. And a few years of actually thinking about problems intelligently, calmly, and often for money- or status- related rewards, DID solve issues like most health problems and social organization. So I just totally reject this idea that we should "feel bad" about hurting mother earth. No. This eternal nagging idea is not a working solution. And it's pain, forever. Instead, we should tax carbon heavily, so that people would naturally and without any buyin or extra coding work, and also across all pollution generating avenues avoid more environmentally harmful choices. NOT just in this one, publicly-facing domain (while ignoring the rest of the world and uses). i.e. if we actually make carbon-producing things cost more we automatically get buyin from every country and every person, who all just care about price regardless of environment. AND this doesn't selectively punish people who care! (the current guilt-based system punishes people who care more which is also very bad for adoption of this "caring means pain" concept).

So yeah, get over it. This isn't the way. The way is to incentivize every person, nation, and market to rearrange its prices to do better things and improve.
