Privacy policy for Gridvine QR Code Generator
Last updated: 11th October 2026
- Information We Collect
Gridvine is designed to collect as little information as possible.
Information you enter on the Site
Information you enter on the Site stays in your browser and is not sent to or stored on our servers, except when you choose to contact us.
For example, information such as website addresses, Wi-Fi details, contact information, payment links, and other content you enter to generate a file is processed locally in your browser. When you download a file, it is generated on your device and saved directly to your device. We do not receive or retain a copy of this information.
Gridvine browser extensions
Gridvine also offers a browser extension (QR Code Generator) for Chrome and Firefox that creates a QR code for the web page you are viewing.
When you click the extension's icon, it reads the address (URL), title, and icon of your current tab. It uses the "activeTab" permission, which only gives it access to the tab you are on at the moment you click, and it cannot see your other tabs or your browsing history. The QR code is generated on your device inside the extension's popup. The extension does not send this information to us, does not use cookies or browser storage, and does not include analytics. Downloading or copying a QR code also happens entirely on your device.
If you click "Edit & customize", the extension opens Gridvine in a new tab and includes the address of the page you were viewing in the link, so it can be filled into the generator for you. This is the only time the extension passes a web page address to Gridvine, and it only happens when you click that button. Like any request to a website, the address in that link is received by our server and hosting infrastructure so that the page can load. We do not store it in our analytics, which records only the page path and, where present, a campaign source. Once the page has loaded, anything you do with it is processed locally in your browser as described above.
Website usage information
We collect a small amount of information about how the Site is used. This helps us understand which parts of the Site are useful, identify technical issues, and improve the experience.
Our analytics system may collect:
- the pages you visit;
- the features you use;
- the type or format of a file you generate or download;
- the website or campaign that referred you to the Site; and
- a general indication of your device type, such as desktop, tablet, or mobile.
Our analytics does not use cookies or collect IP addresses.
A randomly generated identifier may be used to associate activity during your visit. This identifier is stored in your browser's session storage and is discarded when the session ends. It is not used to identify you by name, create a personal profile, or track you across other websites.
IP addresses
When you visit the Site, your IP address is automatically transmitted to our server as part of the normal operation of the internet. This is necessary for the server to respond to your request.
This does not form part of our analytics. Gridvine does not retain IP addresses or associate them with your usage data.
Your IP address may be viewed or processed momentarily by our server or security systems to help prevent spam, abuse, malicious activity, or attempts to interfere with the Site. It is not stored in our analytics database, linked to your usage data, or used to build a profile about you.
Information you provide when contacting us
If you contact us by email, we collect the information you provide, which may include your name, email address, and the contents of your message.
We use this information to respond to your enquiry, provide assistance, and maintain an appropriate record of our communications. We do not use it for advertising or marketing purposes.
- Cookies and Browser Storage
Gridvine does not use cookies for analytics, advertising, profiling, or tracking.
We use your browser's session storage for the temporary identifier described above. This identifier is designed to exist only during your visit and does not persist as a cookie.
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party advertising trackers.
- How We Use Information
We use the limited information we collect to: - operate and maintain the Site;
- understand how the Site is used;
- improve our services and user experience;
- identify and resolve technical problems;
- prevent spam, abuse, fraud, and malicious activity;
- respond to enquiries; and
- comply with applicable legal obligations.
We do not use information for advertising, behavioural profiling, or automated decision-making.
We do not sell personal information.
- How We Share Information
We do not sell or share personal information for advertising or profiling purposes.
We may disclose information where reasonably necessary to:
- service providers that help us host, operate, secure, maintain, or support the Site;
- comply with a legal obligation, court order, or lawful request;
- protect the rights, property, or security of Gridvine, our users, or others; or
- respond to an emergency where disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect someone's safety.
Information entered into parts of the Site that process data locally in your browser is not provided to these service providers because it is not transmitted to our servers in the first place.
- Third-Party Services
Gridvine does not use third-party analytics services such as Google Analytics.
We may use third-party infrastructure where necessary to host, deliver, secure, or maintain the Site. These providers may process limited technical information as part of providing their services.
We do not permit third-party service providers to use information collected through Gridvine for their own advertising or behavioural profiling.
If we introduce a service that materially changes how personal information is collected, used, or disclosed, we will update this Privacy Policy.
- Data Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
Usage data may be retained so that we can understand how the Site is used, identify trends, improve the Site, and investigate technical issues. We may periodically delete or aggregate this information.
The temporary browser identifier is discarded when the session ends.
If you contact us, we may retain your correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your enquiry, maintain appropriate records, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations.
You may ask us to delete personal information we hold about you, subject to any legal or legitimate reason we may have for retaining it.
- Security
We take reasonable steps to protect information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure.
Because information entered into our browser-based services is processed locally and is not ordinarily transmitted to our servers, we do not receive or store that information.
No method of transmitting or storing information over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the information we do hold.
- Overseas Disclosure
Some of the service providers or infrastructure used to operate the Site may be located outside Australia or may process information outside Australia.
Where personal information is disclosed to an overseas recipient, we take reasonable steps to ensure that it is handled appropriately and in accordance with applicable privacy obligations.
Our use of third-party infrastructure may change over time. If our overseas disclosure practices materially change, we will update this Privacy Policy.
- Your Privacy Rights
Under applicable Australian privacy laws, you may have the right to: - request access to personal information we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated information;
- request deletion of personal information where appropriate; and
- make a complaint about how we have handled your personal information.
To make a request, contact us using the details at the end of this policy.
We may need to verify your identity before providing access to or making changes to personal information.
- Privacy Complaints
If you have a concern about how Gridvine has handled your personal information, please contact us at privacy@gridvine.app. We will review your concern and do our best to resolve it. - Children's Privacy
Gridvine is not specifically directed at children.
The Site does not require an account or personal information for general use, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children for purposes unrelated to providing the Site.
If you believe we may hold personal information relating to a child, please contact us using the details below.
- Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Gridvine, our services, technology, or applicable privacy requirements.
When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy.
Where we make a material change to how we collect, use, store, or disclose personal information, we will take reasonable steps to make the change clear.
