About this extension
Block the sites that distract you, and step out when you have to. Like a hall pass at school, Hall Pass lets you leave during focus time, but not often and not for long: 5 minutes per pass, 6 passes per site each day.
How it works
Two ways to focus
The rules don't bend
6 passes per site per day, 5 minutes each, reset at midnight. There's no setting to change them, so you can't raise them while you're distracted.
Why it asks for access to all websites
You choose which sites to block, so Hall Pass can't list them in advance. It only redirects the sites on your list and doesn't read the pages you visit.
Private
Your list and settings stay in this browser. No account, no analytics, and no data is sent anywhere.
How it works
- Add the sites that distract you. Adding a site also blocks its subdomains, and you can sort sites into categories.
- During focus time, those sites show a block page instead.
- Need one anyway? Take a pass. The site opens for 5 minutes, then it's blocked again. Your other blocked sites stay blocked.
Two ways to focus
- Schedules block your sites at set times every week, so there's nothing to start. You begin with weekdays 09:00–13:00 and 14:00–18:00, and can change them or add your own, including ones that run past midnight.
- Sessions and breaks block your sites for a 20, 30 or 45-minute session you start from the toolbar, then open them for a 5, 10 or 15-minute break. Good for the Pomodoro technique.
