About this extension
InterSub turns the shows and courses you already watch into language lessons. Use dual subtitles to see the original line and its translation together, and a translator extension that explains any word you hover, in videos and on websites.
💡 What's new
• Telegram bot for practising your saved words: t.me/InterSubWords_bot?start=ff_as
• Auto-hide subtitles on YouTube.
• Forced AI translation of the second subtitle line, based on the original.
• AI Language Buddy chat: ask about slang, grammar or usage, get extra examples without leaving the screen, and save the explanation to your vocabulary.
📺 Dual subtitles on the video you already watch
Watch with two lines on screen: the original subtitle and your language below it. It works as a dual subtitles extension on every supported site. If a video has no track in your language, the AI subtitle translator (paid plans and the free trial) can build the second line for you on the fly.
Supported platforms include:
➤ Netflix
➤ YouTube
➤ Prime Video
➤ HBO Max
➤ Disney+
➤ Crunchyroll
➤ Coursera
➤ Udemy
➤ LinkedIn Learning
➤ TED
The full list of supported sites: intersub.cc/en/how_to#skip_intro
Turn on netflix dual subtitles for a series in the evening and youtube dual subtitles for a lecture in the morning: the settings stay the same everywhere. People also call it netflix double subtitles or netflix two subtitles; double subtitles on any supported site work the same way.
🔎 Translator extension with a pop-up dictionary
1⃣ Hover a word in the subtitles. The video pauses and a pop-up dictionary shows the translation.
2⃣ Read the context translation: the words around it are translated too, so slang and idioms make sense.
3⃣ Double-click or select text on any website. The same dictionary extension works on articles and forums.
4⃣ Ask the AI language tutor to translate meaning, grammar or a cultural reference in plain words. It's AI language learning built around your own questions.
This language translator extension recognises phrases, idioms and phrasal verbs, not only single words, so it works as an instant translator for real speech. On YouTube it doubles as a youtube translator extension for comments and descriptions too.
📚 Vocabulary builder with a full learning cycle
Most vocabulary apps give you someone else's word list. Here the list is built from the words you actually met in a scene or an article, so you learn new words you already care about.
How the cycle works:
Prefer flashcards? You can also sync your words with Anki or export them to Excel. The bot follows the same idea as the extension. It stays simple and works with the words you chose yourself.
🧠 Learn from your own words
Sentence mining is simple here, with no extra add-ons to set up: every word keeps the line it came from, so you review it in context. If you use Anki, you can sync these words there too.
🎧 Modes for immersion language learning
▸ Show subtitles only on pause to train your listening.
▸ Hide the second line until you pause, then check yourself.
▸ Shadowing mode stops after each line so you can repeat it out loud. It's a simple way to practise shadowing english with real dialogue.
▸ Change font size, colour and position; right-to-left languages such as Arabic and Hebrew display correctly.
📱 Remote control from your phone
Watching on a TV or a big monitor? Scan a QR code and your phone becomes a remote: pause, rewind a line and tap a word in the current subtitle to see its translation, without leaving the sofa.
🌍 Languages you can learn
It supports dozens of languages. Popular directions include english to spanish and spanish to english, english to japanese, english to chinese and german to english. Fans who learn japanese with anime get the same tools on anime platforms, and crunchyroll ai subtitles help when an episode has no track in your language.
💡 What you get
• One app instead of three: dual subs, a pop-up dictionary and a vocabulary builder.
• Language learning with netflix and YouTube without stopping to search in another tab. It works as a netflix language learning extension.
• One of the language learning tools that covers both watching and review.
• A google translate alternative for words in context: you see what the word means in this exact sentence.
• ChatGPT translation help: ask the AI why a phrase means what it means.
• An alternative to Language Reactor, Immersive Translate, Dualsub or Trancy for learners who want both subtitles and word practice.
• Your words follow you to the phone through the Telegram bot.

Most vocabulary apps give you someone else's word list. Here the list is built from the words you actually met in a scene or an article, so you learn new words you already care about.
How the cycle works:
- Find a word in a film, a series or on a website.
- It is saved to your vocabulary builder together with the sentence it came from.
- Practise it in our Telegram bot (t.me/InterSubWords_bot?start=ff_as). It breaks each word down into translation, usage and examples, checks the sentences you write with an AI tutor and brings the word back with spaced repetition. You can even answer by voice.
- Meet the word again in the next episode and understand it without help.
