Privacy policy for JoyFox
Last updated: 2026-10-12
JoyFox is a browser extension for Firefox and Chrome that enhances the JoyClub
pages you open. It is an independent project, not made, sponsored or supported
by JOYclub, Mozilla or Google.
JoyFox has no server. Everything it stores stays in your browser, in the
extension's own storage. JoyFox sends no data to its author, to JoyClub or to
anyone else, and it contains no analytics, tracking or advertising.
JoyFox runs only on JoyClub pages (www.joyclub.de) that you open yourself. It
reads what those pages show. It never crawls or calls JoyClub's servers, and
opens a page only as part of an action you click (below).
- Your settings and contact rule, and the JoyClub account names you enter.
- Your notes, tags and templates.
- Member records: other members' member IDs and nicknames, and a dated
snapshot of each profile you open: photo and word counts, badges, join dates
and the "Vorlieben" (preferences) tags the profile lists at a positive level.
Preference tags can describe a person's sexuality; they stay in your browser
and are never logged. - Messages: the text of the ClubMail messages you open, sent and received,
for Conversation History Search. This is on by default and can be turned off
on the options page ("Messages"). Messages are deleted automatically after 12
months, or after the period you choose (1 to 120 months). - Events you track: your attendance, notes and tags, and the member IDs on
the event's guest list (never names). They are deleted when you stop tracking
the event. - Your own decisions: placements ("Mark qualified", "Mark as junk"), trust
outcomes, and a log of the actions you started, which holds IDs and times,
never message text.
JoyFox also keeps a few choices (the inbox view, the event filter, the profile
type filter) in the JoyClub tab's own session storage. They hold no member data
and are removed when the tab closes.
Only when you click them, "Delete", "Mark as junk" and "Ignore and Delete" use
JoyClub's own buttons to move a conversation to JoyClub's trash and, for "Ignore
and Delete", to open the member's profile in the same tab and ignore the member
there. "Delete" then returns to the ClubMail list. A saved search opens its
saved address and clicks JoyClub's filter and "Anwenden" buttons. JoyFox never
sends a message.
JoyFox shares no data with anyone. Data leaves your browser only when you save
an export file yourself on the options page.
Your browser runs JoyFox in private or incognito windows only if you allow it.
If you do, JoyFox stores what it reads there as in a normal window, and the
records stay after the window closes.
The options page ("Your data") shows every stored record. You can export it as a
JSON file and delete one record, one type of data, one account's data, or
everything. Removing the extension deletes its storage.
Firefox updates JoyFox from addons.mozilla.org and Chrome from the Chrome Web
Store. The browser, not JoyFox, makes these checks, and they hold no JoyFox
data.
