Privacy policy for Keenetic Policy Switch
Keenetic Policy Switch by Space17
Keenetic Policy Switch is a browser extension that lets you change the internet access policy of devices on your own Keenetic router. It talks only to the router address you enter. It has no servers, no analytics and no advertising.
| Data | Why | Where it is kept |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Router address and administrator login | To connect to your router | In this browser only (extension local storage) |
| Router administrator password | To sign in to the router when its session expires | In this browser only, encrypted with AES-GCM; the encryption key cannot be exported |
| Name and MAC address of the device you opened last, and of the device that is this computer | To open straight to its policy and show a policy on the toolbar badge | In this browser only |
| Router model, firmware version, sign-in method | Shown in the settings for troubleshooting | In this browser only |
The list of devices and policies is read from the router each time you open the extension and is not stored. The only exception is the network segment each device was last connected to (for example “Home Network”), kept in the browser next to the device's MAC address: the router does not report the segment of a disconnected device, and without it the extension could not show which policy such a device will get.
To mark the computer you are using in that list, the extension can read the computer's local network addresses in the browser (with WebRTC, without contacting any server) and compare them with the device addresses the router reports. It asks you once before doing so, and you can turn it off at any time in the extension's settings. These are private addresses of your home network, such as 192.168.1.24; they do not reveal your location and are not stored or sent anywhere. Only the result is kept in the browser: which device in the router's list is this computer, so that the toolbar badge can show its policy. Turning the feature off forgets it.
Only to the router address you entered. The password itself is never sent: the extension proves that it knows the password with the router's challenge-response sign-in (KeeneticOS 5.0–5.1) or the SCRAM-style NDW4 sign-in (KeeneticOS 5.2 and newer).
Nothing is sent to the developer or to any third party. Settings are not synced to your Google account.
Data is not sold, shared or transferred to third parties, and it is not used for any purpose other than switching policies on your router.
The use of information handled by this extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Open the extension → Settings → Forget router. This deletes the address, login, password, remembered devices and segments from the browser and removes the extension's access to the router address. Removing the extension deletes everything as well.
If this policy changes, the new version is published at this address with a new date.
