About this extension
LayerTake adds a layer of pins to any webpage. Open the panel, select a sentence or point at an image, choose “Pin this,” and write a note. It stays attached to that spot. Come back later and your pins are where you left them, even if the page has shifted a little.

Choose who sees each pin:
• Only me: private notes that never leave your browser.
• Friends: people you follow who follow you back. Encrypted separately for each of them.
• A group: a book club, a design team, a supper club. Encrypted for the group's members.
• Public: anyone using LayerTake or another Nostr app.

What you get
• A purple tab on the edge of every page shows how many pins are there. Click it to slide the panel in, click again to tuck it away.
• Show pins / Hide pins: while the panel is tucked away, keep pins on the page as you read, or hide them.
• Highlights and margin markers show exactly what each pin is about. Click a highlight to open its pin.
• Layers you can turn on and off: Only me, Friends, Groups and Public.
• Threads: reply to any pin. Vote and report on public pins.
• Saved: bookmark pins you want to find again.
• Popular: the sites with the most public pins this month.
• Your profile: a name and picture shown on pins you share.
• Works on phones: in Firefox for Android the panel becomes a bottom sheet you can swipe away.

Private by default
LayerTake has no accounts and no servers of its own, and its developer never receives your data. Private pins are stored only in your browser. Friends, Groups and Public are each off until you turn them on, and Firefox asks for your OK before anything is shared. Shared pins travel through Nostr relays, which you can choose in Settings. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking.

You decide what you see
Hide low-rated public pins, hide pins reported by several people, and block anyone. Group owners can take down pins in their group.

Keyboard shortcut: Alt+Shift+L opens and closes LayerTake.
