About this extension
Layout Toggle for Twitter lets you show or hide, one by one:
- each item in the Twitter (x.com) left menu,
- each item inside the "More" menu,
- each block in the right sidebar (search box, trends, who to follow, and so on).
Hidden by default
- Left menu: Grok, Premium
- Inside "More": Business, Ads
- Right sidebar: Subscribe to Premium, Live on X, Sports scores
Everything else is shown until you turn it off. "Reset to defaults" brings this back.
Layout options
- Move items from "More" into the left menu (on by default): for each left menu item you hide, one item from "More" takes its place, top first. A moved item opens its page the same way the other left menu items do, and the Back button works.
- Widen the timeline (off by default): when every right sidebar block on the page is hidden, the timeline and the posts in it widen into the freed space.
Works in any display language
Items are recognized by their data-testid and link paths, not by the text on the screen, so the add-on works whatever language x.com is shown in.
Settings
Open about:addons, choose Layout Toggle for Twitter, then Preferences. Changes apply to open x.com tabs right away. Items that the add-on has not seen yet, such as those inside "More", appear in the settings page after you open them once on x.com; new items that x.com adds later are listed too.
Privacy
The add-on collects no data and sends nothing anywhere; it makes no network requests. Your choices, the names, link paths and icon shapes of the items it found, and the time it last ran on x.com are kept only in your browser (storage.local). Removing the add-on deletes them.
Requirements
Firefox 140 or later on desktop. It runs only on https://x.com/*.
This is an independent add-on by an individual developer. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by X Corp. It does not use the X or Twitter logo.
