Privacy policy for LetterBloxd (for Letterboxd)
Last updated: October 10, 2026
LetterBloxd is a browser extension that adds a "Not interested" filter, status badges and a one-click watchlist button to letterboxd.com. This policy explains what it does with your information.
Only feedback you choose to send. Otherwise nothing: the extension has no analytics, tracking, advertising or automatic error reporting, and the developer never sees your Letterboxd account, ratings, lists or viewing history.
LetterBloxd has an optional feedback bar. If you type a message and press Enter, the extension sends the developer:
- the message you typed
- the extension's version number
- your browser and operating system (for example "Firefox 131 · macOS")
- the kind of Letterboxd page you were on (for example "film page" or "list"), never the page address
- your LetterBloxd display settings (filter mode, badge style and fade settings)
It does not send your username, email, the page address, or anything about your films. Nothing is sent unless you press Enter in the feedback box. In Firefox, you are asked to allow this the first time, and you can withdraw it any time in Add-ons.
Feedback is delivered to a Google Form owned by the developer and stored in the developer's Google account (Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy). As with any website, Google receives the network address your request comes from; the developer does not receive or keep it. Feedback is used only to fix bugs and improve LetterBloxd, is never sold or shared, and is deleted when no longer needed. To have something you sent deleted, email the address below with roughly when you sent it and what it said.
LetterBloxd only runs on letterboxd.com, and apart from feedback you choose to send, it only talks to letterboxd.com, signed in as you:
- When you mark a film "Not interested", it adds that film to a private list called "Not Interested" on your own Letterboxd account, creating the list the first time. Un-marking removes it from that list.
- When you click its watchlist button, it adds or removes that film on your Letterboxd watchlist. Marking a film watched also takes it off your watchlist.
- It reads your "Not Interested" list and whether films are on your watchlist so it can show the right badges and filters.
Those changes are stored by Letterboxd under its own privacy policy, exactly as if you had made them on the Letterboxd website yourself.
To work quickly, the extension keeps two small things in your browser's storage for letterboxd.com: your filter settings (Show / Fade / Hide, status badges on or off) and a copy of which films are on your "Not Interested" list. They never leave your computer except as described above. Clearing your browsing data for letterboxd.com, or removing the extension, deletes them.
LetterBloxd does not sell or share information with third parties. It communicates with Letterboxd (letterboxd.com/legal/privacy-policy) and, only when you send feedback, with Google Forms as described above.
If what the extension does with data ever changes, this page will be updated before the new version is released, and the date above will change.
