Lumen: Ambient Light & Original YouTube Audio ("Lumen") does not collect, store, transmit, sell or share any personal data.
- Settings (for example brightness or preferred video quality) are saved in the browser's
extension storage (Chrome or Firefox). A copy of the playback settings is also kept in the page
storage of youtube.com (and youtube-nocookie.com for embedded videos), so the player gets them
before the extension has loaded. If you turned on Chrome sync, or Firefox Sync for add-ons, the
browser itself syncs the settings to your other devices through your Google or Mozilla account.
The extension never sends them anywhere. - Video frames are processed only on your device, on your graphics card, to calculate the
ambient light. Nothing is recorded, uploaded or analysed elsewhere. - Sound is processed only on your device when you change the volume.
- Settings files you export are saved to your downloads folder and only read when you import
one yourself. - Original titles and thumbnails: while "Titles and thumbnails" is set to "Original", the
extension asks YouTube itself for the original title of the videos shown on the page
(www.youtube.com/oembed, without cookies) and loads their original thumbnails from YouTube's
image server (i.ytimg.com). Only the video's ID goes to YouTube, which already shows you that
video. Nothing is sent anywhere else. The titles are remembered on your device for a day, so they
don't have to be asked for again. - Apart from that the extension makes no network requests. It uses no analytics,
no tracking and no third-party services. - The extension only runs on www.youtube.com and www.youtube-nocookie.com.
Uninstalling the extension removes its settings and remembered titles from the browser's extension
storage. The copy of the playback settings in YouTube's page storage stays until you clear
YouTube's site data; it contains nothing but those settings.
