Step 8 also adds runtime execution coverage for the Step-7 built-in-icon ownership contract.

    Completes Snow Leopard II Step 5 with a narrow storage-local optimization. During healthy reconciliation, MosaicSync now reuses the exact Sync-continuity snapshot already read by the same serialized background queue turn instead of immediately reading that local key again.

    Routine Sync-watch alarms use one fewer local read, and established Sync-on startup uses two fewer local reads. Full Sync reads, continuity writes, pending journals, catastrophic-loss handling, Recovery and destructive-cleanup freshness checks are unchanged.

    Snow Leopard II Step 5 is now complete; Step 6 lifetime/memory analysis is next.

    Profile import now performs bounded hostile-structure preflight and validates actual PNG/JPEG/WebP raster content instead of trusting MIME labels alone.

    Custom Branding import rollback can no longer overwrite a newer branding change from another New Tab, and failed profile imports no longer leave rejected imported state active in memory.

If the synchronized ON preference arrives later, MosaicSync shows a one-time localized permission step instead of requiring an OFF/ON toggle workaround; the existing inline Grant permission action remains available. Browsing history and permission state remain device-local. Fresh profiles now default to an 11-column × 4-row grid; existing saved layouts remain unchanged.
